pre-alignment advise

I am going to get my 4Runner aligned today and most of my tires have excessive wear on the outer edges. (partly my fault for not getting it aligned soon enough after the new tires were put on) The reason for the alignment is new inner tie rods.

Anything I should request they do to help with reducing this? Should I request a certain amount of negative camber?

I did read some of this....

Lots of theories on this, but no absolute correct answer. If you drive primarily as a DD, I'd say just get both sides as equal as possible and NO positive camber. Even zero is preferable. I think factory specs allow some negative, and that would be fine. You might have had some toe issues, or even CASTER causing outer wear. Bottom line, I don't think special requests are necessary. Most complaints I've seen here is the inability to get good caster with a lift, and centering the steering wheel. The latter being completely on the technician.

rotate the tires more often. you'll get bad wear like that, even with a properly aligned front end. its worse with more aggressive tires.

Thanks, it is my DD but has also been seeing the trails.

I agree. I didn't do a good job at rotating them like I should have. Tires are Safari TSR's, so I would put them in the aggressive category.

Well as long as you aren't doing high speed desert racing, you should still be fine. With the aggressive tires, some people go heavy on the toe, but if you do any pavement, they tend to wear quickly that way. Stay with what works.
