Pre-fabbed cargo box, Gen specific

I working with a company to produce bad ass 4Runner / FJ Cruiser / Jeep rear cargo drawer systems. I would like to offer 2 options at first but would like more input.



1st option - bare bones, 2 drawer system with partitions in drawers.


2nd option - subwoofer + multiple cargo case system. has 2 drawers + room for subwoofer/amp + 1 other storage bin.


How much would you pay for these if they were professionally prefabricated out of 3/4" birchwood using 75lb drawer slides + battalion latches?

if you could keep the costs below $500, I'd buy the first option.

$500 would be a great entry point for Option 1 and then I'd buy in on upgrade accessories like high density foam dividers, locks, etc

Instead of just doing 3/4" consider Spennys comment. Use the correct sized material for the components.
For the interior of the draws-put slots in the sides so a guy can install slide in partitions that suit what they want to do.
Another option that might be popular here is to make them KD so the purchaser could assemble them. Then you could ship them cheaper, flat packed, like Ikea. A lot of guys here like DIY so this would be appealing to that group.

But, to the actual question- I would consider a KD bare bones set up starting at $300 a good value.

I think he's referring to a kit. IKEA esque. That would save a pile on shipping for sure.

KD = knock down, as in an item to be assembled. Also known as RTA, Ready To Assemble.

Kit at a lower entry price would be fantastic! $300 on a RTA kit would be an easy choice for so many. Making the kit at three levels each with progressively more options and better hardware would be awesome.
