pre OME lift questions

Hey,

I am ordering my OME lift (shocks and coils) assembled with new topplates, etc. from toytech. I have a v6 and plan on doing the 884/895 combo for a 2-2.5" lift. I am having a local shop (friends with mechanic) do the install, they lifted a TJ jeep I had 5+ years ago and installed coilovers on my old GTI too i believe.

My questions is - do I need to provide the shop with a new set of endlinks to compensate for the new height or will the stock sway links work fine after its lifted? As long as nothing breaks or is seized, bolt wise, is there anything else I should be considering? I want to leave my sways in/connected and I do not want to do the differential drop either, or UCAs. From my research this OME kit wont call for any of that - fingers crossed.

I might try to figure out all the bolts that will be undone for this job, and spraying them with some liquid wrench before going to the shop for install...i need to figure that out because i dont want to use the liquid wrench anywhere I shouldnt. the lift is going in with 130k on my truck - fortunately i dont have a lot of undercarriage rust though.

End links should be fine. If you have a V6 and getting 884 without any additional weight up front I would suspect UCAs might be needed. I have had 883s up front for 3 years and driving wise its fine but my tire wear is not great. My current combo is 883 and 895. Drawers in the back, about 120lbs loaded. I like the stance.
Putting a little rake in the stance actually improved my alignment numbers up front enough to put them in the green. I will still be getting UCAs in the, hopefully, near future though.

I have a set of 884s with only a few miles on em.
 
thanks man - and for the info when previously messaging. i was going the 884/895 instead of 883/895e route because i do a lot of camping, might do drawer setup eventually, and wouldnt rule out adding a hidden winch sometime - prob not entire bumper. toytec doesnt appear to sell the assembled fronts w 883 option but perhaps an over phone order they would, and go 895e out back. i convinced myself the 844/895 would be a fine way to go for the preassembly option.

i read somewhere that aftermarket uca need some sort of a consistent maintenance. can you or anyone suggest reasonably priced ucas that dont require maintenance or w.e. it was i was reading?

They are held in by one bolt, if it takes them longer than a couple of minutes.. look for another shop. lol

For some reason 883 is only listed with Tacoma options.
I had the same thought, discussed. Ordered 884. Didn't like the pair with 895e in the rear despite it being the option. Talked with ARB-USA who advised the 883 is the correct pairing. I suggested to Toytec the options be updated when I ordered the 883s.

No problem. I really like the ride despite the hesitations from others. I am on dirt and washboards every almost day though.

good call...since i am putting my suspension amd wheels kit together for full install i will look to add ucas...and i take it the oem ball joints reference the 'maintenance free' aspect

if they had the assembly option for 883 895e i might go that route. the even or slight rake w 884 895 and a bit firmer i am okay with anyway. thanks for your help and sick 4r.

Yup, one zerk fitting for the ball joint, just check with every oil change.
