pre roadtrip checklist

I am planning a roadtrip from Philadelphia to Ft. Meyers beach (FL) sometime after thanksgiving. My question is what thing(s) should I do or have done to my 4rnr (94 3.0, 5spd w/ 170 k)? The truck has (is) running good w/ no apparent issues. I'm just a little worried about the headgaskets, so far no hints as to a problem w/ them but... Florida is a long drive. Thanks

I dun know, check the brakes, coolant, tires, tirre pressure, belts, hoses, oil, tranny fluid, diff oil, tires, ..., shall I go on ?

I think this depends mainly on how active you are with the routine maintenance. Do you change the oil every 5k miles, air filter and spark plugs every 10k? If you've got a Haynes or Chilton manual, do you follow their recommendations for the 5k, 10k, 30k, 60k, 100k miles servicing (checking transmission/transfer/differential oils, brake and clutch fluid, brake rotors and pads, cylinder gap, etc).

If you're doing these things regularly, you shouldn't have much to worry about for a long trip. If you slack on the regular maintenance, you'll have more stuff you need to take care of before long trips.

All the routine maintnence is up to date w/ the exception of changing the diff and trans fluid. Anybody on here using redline synthetics in the diffs and trans? I was just worried about the possiblity of headgasket probs. T-belt and waterpump were replaced 15k ago along w/ NGK laser platinum plugs. Tires and all belts and hoses are good. Thanks
