Preamp tap point?

Hi I want to add a powered bazooka style subwoofer to my factory 04 non-jbl system. I already have the sub from years past, so I'd like to work with what I have without spending much additional money.

My question is what is the best place to tap into the cars speaker wire for preamp outputs? I think it will be kind of annoying if I have to take the door apart. Is there a wiring harness in the back where a JBL equipped 4runner would have a sub? Also do I have to tap both right and left channels or can I only do one and be fine.

Can't you just use a line out converter?

Yea, I think that's why I need speaker level connections, not preamp.

The speaker wire from the car can be connected directly to the amp on the subwoofer. I don't need preamp, my mistake.
