Good afternoon. I'm thinking about getting one of these, but concerned about how hot they get? I live in Clearwater. Summertime is pretty brutal here. Does this get pretty hot? has this deterred anyone from getting one? Thanks!
They do get hot and they get REALLY cold. Small price to pay for a nice looking piece of equipment from a company that takes pride in their work. My wife had no idea that I ordered it and after I installed it, she noticed it and commented how cool she thought it was - a first for ANY of my other mods/additions.

What is the point? Its an automatic. Just looks?

No silly -- it's a PRECISION shift knob. It makes something more precise.
But, yeah, good question.
Thanks! Looks pretty sweet. It's a fair question. I'm anti-bling, myself; however, I really hated the feel and look of the factory knob, especially in conjunction with the TE 4WD shifter. They don't look right together.
I had an FJ knob on mine for a while, which mimicked the 4WD shift knob much better... but I ended up getting a great offer from Joel Ellis - free shift knobs in exchange for taking some pics and doing a writeup.
I accepted his offer and was very impressed with his stuff. See writeup / photos:

Incidentally, that writeup spawned a group buy and I believe over 100 people got in on it, so that's cool.
When I sold that 4R I left the knobs in place, and when I ordered my current 4R, the first thing I did (before delivery, even) was order another Ellis knob - this one I paid full price for.
The knobs just feel good in the hand (yeah, I said it). It's questionable whether a piece of aluminum is worth the money... to most, probably it isn't. But I sure like mine.
Yeah. Just for looks. I'm starting to regret the blue... Kinda wish I would've gone black!
