gotta watch all of the tests tho..i've noticed towards the end..even after the race track and the drive across country..it still looks brand new..unless they gave it a new body every time. sick tho!

Ive been following this since the begining . I too will be interested in the teardown! There are a lot of questions that need to asked and answerd, Ilke what brand of oil were they using add weight , how many oil changes did they do , plugs , air filters, belts ,+++ .

You know, I would never have considered a domestic vehicle a couple years ago. The quality and innovation just wasn't there to compete with the Japanese equivalents. I'm happy to say that Ford is almost there. I think its awesome that they're playing with turbo V6s in their trucks. The final straw for me would be a tacoma size pickup with a turbo diesel four. I would gladly buy that from Ford.

I've been following this as well. I swore off fords many years ago. Although, the new super duty and the new F150 has got me thinking maybe I will give them another try. I do like the fact that you can get a f150 crewcab with a 6.5 foot bed.

I went from an F150 to my 4runner, different vehicles I know, but man I really miss my F150, it did seem like a more solid truck, I fail to see the "Toyota Quality" people talk about.

Problem is they can replicate the stress, there is a point where time and corrosion and many oil changes and the actual 150k mile engine prone to leaking and burning oil and other side effects that a high stress short term test can't replicate. The only way to 100% simulate a 150k mile engine is get a engine that has done 150k miles already.

I didnt see the vids yet, but I think they didnt go head to head with the Tundra because I dont think the Tundra is in the same class as the F-150...

I think its in the same class with like the f-350

I think the Ford's diesel is now a 6.7L, rated at 400hp/800ft/lbs of torque. And no, no gasser can compete with that. Only in price I guess as the diesel is almost an $8000 option. The tundra is in the same class as the f-150. I also wondered why its never compared in the pulling competition. The tundra is only compared in frame stiffness and suspension areas. The ford has the max-trailering package with the eco-boost motor. But, they didn't bring a chevy with the max-trailering package (6.2L V8), they only brought the 5.3L. Being an owner of a 5.3L (2004) I know it doesn't take much to pass or out pull one of these motors, although, they are ok just driving around empty.

That being said, I am still looking at the fords for when I can get a new pickup truck. With the eco-boost motor, providing all the hype is somewhat correct, it would be nice to get good mpg's and still be able to tow a heavy load with no problem.

I've seen it, and umm my toyota has plenty of problems on its own. More than the VW does which has more miles. And the younger Land Rover has less problems. Im sure theres plenty of Toyota's out there with less problems than VW's and Land Rovers, and im sure there's the other way around. Personal expierence speaks louder than a magazine can say. Each car has their ups and downs, it's pretty common knowledge, need i remind you of the 2nd gen 4runners head gasket problem, the tacoma frame rust issue, the 3rd gen axle seal, rust, rear differential, and automatic transmission failures??? Don't go there all brands have problems.

I understand what your saying, but I still disagree.The reasons that magazines like CS exist are that one persons experience doesn't tell the whole tale. Every mfg makes a lemon now and then. To avoid that issue, CS sends out thousands of surveys that the ratings are based on. Those surveys say that Toyota is VERY reliable.

For 2010 Toyota placed 3rd, Ford placed 11th, and Chrysler and GM were tied at the very bottom.

I had a 00 F350 crew cab long bed and loved it, cause I converted it and ran VO for 3 years. saved TONS of money. sold the truck cause I moved and didnt have the oil rescorces. good truck (7.3) motor, but like all big trucks parts cost more.

miss the truck, but looking fwd to a 4 runner I am looking to buy this weekend.

It took me forever to find my TE and I almost gave up on trying to find one. I gave a looooong serious look at (the time) next years (this years) f150 and the eco boost. While I wish vehemently that diesels were more popular and available here, I definitely like the direction Ford is going with smaller displacement engines and turbo chargers. I could see myself giving Ford a shot in the not distant future.
