Pretty sure I've got some major sun damage. Anyway to fix?

My poor 2006...it has some pretty bad sun damage on the left and right fender panels. Also one portion of the rear passenger door panel has sun damage too. It looks super scratchy....and dry. I looks whited out almost, but it should be silver (I have the titanium silver finish).

Anyway to fix this stuff?

Also the hood scoop...the hood scoop bulge...is peeling. I was looking for the part number to match my silver finish with, but can't find squat. Anyway to fix this as well?

Wax and polish is about all you can do without painting it. It won't help much but will probably stop the fading from getting worse.

My 2005 is similar. The paint on the plastic parts is in BAD shape compared to the metal. I hope someone has an answer.

It's too much to paint black imo and will be difficult to match if I just pull those panels to paint.

I'm thinking I'll just have to live with it.

Post up a pic so we can give better advice. A lot of retail level detailing supplies can work wonders, Meguiar's Ultimate Compound/Polish applied either by hand or machine with a foam cutting pad might rejuvenate the finish enough to live with.

I hate being the bearer of bad news, but...

Once your clear coat is peeling, there's nothing that can be done other than repainting it. There isn't a detailing product on earth that will fix, minimize, or improve clear coat failure.

Any compounding or polishing is only going to remove even more clear coat, making the problem worse.

Unfortunately, there are only 2 options: a) live with it or b) get it repainted.

Paint correction, buy a dual action polisher from harbor freight or a variable speed polisher. Use a foam polishing pad starting off with Mequiar's heavy cutting compound, then medium, then fine, then glaze and it will look better than a brand new car.

I just did my old faded 2002 4runner, it looks amazing now!

Oh and BTW the paint on the plastic fenders and mirrors was terrible, I thought there was no hope for the plastic. I kept going over the plastic with the heavy and medium cutting compound with the variable speed polisher and they are shining like crazy now. It's amazing was a polishing wheel with a foam pad and cutting compound can do.

Interesting. Is this a permanent fix? The clear on my hood is going bad, it’s not flaking but it’s starting to appear more hazy and texture is starting to become a little rough. Do u have pics of ur work before and after?

Leave it dirty all the time. Easy and hides flaws.

Same issue here. Roof is basically white against a red truck. Some day's I can live with it, others I almost talk myself into turning my garage into a paint booth and really making it look bad.

Get it stripped and Line-X'ed or Rhino-lined like the Range Rover guys are doing.

Sounds like the clear coat has been compromised - I'm a pro detailer, and would advise you to a body shop for repainting. After that, regular washing, waxing and a durable sealant use will keep your clear coat working for years.
