Price Difference in Magna Flow

I am looking at getting a CAT back system from Magna Flow. However prices seem to be very different when I called a few shops and then checked with Magna Flow. The web was the CAT back system for over $600 and my local shops say they'll do it between $150 and $.220. Does anyone know why there is such a huge difference? Does the piping need to be stainless steel as well?

Yes there is a difference. The catback system is a bolt on "system" and it includes a pretty mandrel rear piping that exits the passenger side via shiny dual valor tips. Another words, with the 600 dollar system, you simply remove your exhaust from the catalytic converter ( that round thingy right before your muffler, the round thingy past the muffler is a resonator) and bolt the new system on. It utilizes all the existing exhaust hangers. Very easy to install, the nice part about the catback system is if you don't like it, you unbolt and bolt your old system back on. The 200 bucks your getting quoted is for a magnaflow muffler welded in place and stead of your existing muffler. Your still stuck with the stcok 2.5 inch tubing and resonator of the stock system, and if you want to go back, well you gotta a bunch of welds and cuts etc...

Now with that all said and done, i'll sell you the magna catback system they sell for 600 bucks for 350 bucks delivered to your door including taxes. Its brand new in my garage, packaged and collecting dust. I like my cockpit quite as a "coffin" as someone here so elegantly put before, accordingly it has to go. It's listed in the classifieds, check it out. According to magnaflow's dyno, it bumped HP by 15 and torque by 13lbs. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response 04bkrunner. That helped a lot, and thanks for the offer but with my wife running the check book I am going to go with the shops price. I noticed that you mentioned the stock tubing is at 2.5, would it be good to go with the 3" inch pipe? I was worried about loosing back end pressure since I have the V6.
