Price for installing Viper 5901

Hey all,

Was wondering how much people are paying for the Viper 5901. I'm looking to purchase it off of Craigslist and get it installed, I just want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off when I got to BB or local audio shops.

Is it worth the time and effort myself to do it? Heard this stuff can get pretty crazy. Thanks.

i know it took best buy around 10 hours to install my 5701, it took so much time b/c they didnt have the right something or other because the car was brand new. They ended up needing one of my keys to stick in the steering column to get it to work. when i was watching it literally looked like a nightmare so i would just have those guys do it, i believe my install was included in the purchase..works great tho!

i think i paid 500-600 including everything: viper 5901, extra parts, and labor
if you end up getting it, let me save you some time and money. the installers will want you to purchase a $100 bypass for the viper. this bypass will not work and will be a waste of your money. instead, tell the installers to use the valet key as a bypass because this is the only way the system will work. they will need to use the valet key as a bypass and will need to permanently place it into the steering column.

my install ended up taking 9 hours - mostly because they couldn't get the $100 bypass to work and then i told them about how that bypass wouldn't work and they would need to use the valet key instead (thanks to semperfly for this info through his experience). once i told them this, the install was done in 20 min.

EXACTLY what happened to me, luckily they didnt make me pay for the bypass even tho they had ripped open the case and tried to already use it.

The programming for the bypass module was released a few weeks ago. If you use the Directed Electronics pkall you dont need to give up a key any more. The Canmax 400 will do everything on this truck as well without the valet key. Below is the email from tech support:
The firmwear has been out for a little while its called the canmaxx400 with firmware TL2 0.07....The pkall will do just the immobilizer on that car and there is a car specific install sheet on the xpresskit website if you want the factory alarm door locks and entry points monitored you ll need the canmax 400

Did you guys get the 530t window modules for up and down?

My guys said it's not possible if the newer car didn't come with some function.

I think they are full of it.
