price for revo2's

I've read through a ton of threads on this but wasn't able to find a lot on recent pricing. I'm lookin for 4 new Revo2's to replace my old Revo's and right now the best price I'm finding is $769 shipped from Tirerack. Firestone shops around here quoted me $199 per tire plus 18 bucks PER for mounting and theres no buy 3 get one promo or anything else right now. Even my local Toyo dealer will mount new tires for only $42 total so I was thinkin of just ordering from Tirerack and then taking them over for mounting. Is $769 too much? I spend about $660 on my original Revo's @ about 165 per tire then 42 to mount. Any other recommendations on where to buy and get a decent deal?

See if the local shops will match the price of Tirerack plus shipping, mounting and balancing.

When I was shopping for Revos a few years ago, Tirerack had the best price by far. But, I went to the nearest Firestone dealer to see if they would be willing to negotiate, and they came down to be within a few dollars per tire to the total amount from Tirerack. It was close enough to make it better for me to go with the local franchisee when you factor in the intangibles like having a local contact in case you have trouble (which I did a few months later). To be fair to the local guys, though, you need to look at the total price, not just the price of the tire.

Never hurts to nicely ask for a retailer for a discount -- worst thing that can happen is that they decline to negotiate. If the local people aren't willing to get close enough for you to feel that local is a good deal, then you have Tirerack as a backup.
 
I've spoken to a few local Firestone places as well as local shops that I have worked with in the past and none seem willing to really budge much, other than $20 here and there. Bringing the local places a LOT higher. Tirerack has a warehouse within an hour of me so I think I am just going to buy the tires, locally pick them up rather than ship and then go to my local shop to have installed. You'd think with the holidays around and everyone pushing for sales that they would have been more interested in working with me. Oh well.

Final cost will be $696 for 265/65/17's and $42 for the installation + the gas and time to go pick them up.
 
That sounds like a great plan. $157 vs $174, that's what Tire Rack is showing for the 70 profile vs the 65 profile. The slightly taller 265/70/17 is cheaper. Many have used that size with no issues, rubbing etc. on non-lifted 4Runners. The speedo may be off approx. 2-3 mph at 70mph, that's it.

The money saved means "free gas" for picking them up and part of the mounting cost is absorbed too:D Just something to think about...
 
I'd actually heard random reports of rubbing though which is why I was concerned. The speedo diff also concerned me as mine is already off slightly although I assume thats due to the original Revo's I have on there now.

In regards to Tirerack, I called to open my wholesale account and the rep was such a jackass that I told them to forget it. I finally found a Firestone dealer 4 miles from my house that offered me the 265/65/17's (just the tires, no mounting) for $771, $2 more than the shipped price from Tirerack although there is no stock. No stock at all right now, complete backorder though on both 265/65/17 and 265/70/17's. They can get me the 65/17's for about $814 from another vendor vs their warehouses. The 70's are $175 a piece and wouldn't be available for a few weeks he said. So I sucked it up and ordered the 65's, will be here tomorrow.

My current revo's have been runnin on the wear bars now for about 3 months and I just want to replace them as I'm starting to feel some instability now. Oh well, its a bit more than I spend on my original set of Revo's but I just need them replaced at this point.
 
Well, it sucks to pay so much especially for the next month or so. The security, piece of mind and satisfaction of having one of the very best tires on the road lasts for years:bigok:
 
Yea, now i find out my local shop can't get me in til next week to mount them and I'll be in Nevada. Guess I'll call up my local Toyo dealership and see if they can get me in. Usually was the same price, about 40-45 bucks to mount them which is still a lot cheaper than Firestone wanted
 
Luckily my local stealership can get me in at 3:30 tomorrow, assuming Firestone gets the tires in and I can get over there. Ah well, needed them this week so I didn't have that much of a choice.
 
i got them today, $813.80 for the tires and another $50 roughly for mount/balance. I'm headin in to do an oil change and I'll check alignment myself in the next few weeks as well. I'm just happy to be running tires that drive comfortably again (given my old Revo's were damn near bald).

I'm intrigued, check the alignment yourself?
 
My father is an instructor at UTI so every couple weeks they have open shops where students come in to work on their cars and he usually works them. I go in and do my oil changes, alignments, brakes/rotors and basic stuff while there to save cash and its a great way to learn. I've got a short little list of stuff to look at when I take it in during January's shop (oil change, headlight aim, alignment, usual fluid checks, looking at the driver seat which squeaks, check rotors).
