Price on a 97 2wd?

I recently decided to move from my 89 civic hatchback to an SUV. After much research i ended up deciding to go for a Nissan pathfinder or a T4R, i ended up really liking the T4R and decided to go shopping. After much research i found that it was pretty hard to stay within my maximum price range of $8k. I ended up finding a nice 97 SR5 for $8k on the nose but it was only 2wd. Now i dont really plan on doing any offroading, but i wanted to make sure the price was acceptable. The mileage is 127k and supposedly is owned by a mechanic. There was no visible rust or damage of any other kind either. Do you think this is a decent deal? The few extras it has are a Fabtech lift with american racing rims and off road tires (not sure why it has offroad tires and is 2wd but whatever.). Any thoughts?

IMHO i would say that's not a great price, I picked up a 1996 SR5 with 118k miles, in GREAT condition for $5,000 (although i did end up replacing the clutch). I'd say keep looking around.

Some more info about the car is useful, like is it the 4 cyl or the V6. Also, is it the SR5 or the Limited. 8K for a limited is a good price, but for the SR5... not so much.

Remmeber KBB.com (kelly blue book) is a great resource for used car prices, take a look there before you buy anything.

8K seems high, but i would maybe make a lower offer

It's a v6, and an SR5 i believe. I've been looking around and i really have been hard pressed to find anything with low mileage that is going for less than $8k (short of ebay). I did find one for $6500 but it was the ugliest color i've ever seen, and even that one had 151,000 miles on it. I like this car, and the color, so im waiting on some paperwork. Perhaps it wasnt the most stellar deal in the world, i think i'll be happy with it in the end. Perhaps eventually i can trade up for a 4x4.

after flipping my tacoma, i wanted a used 4runner. my sister is an accountant at a dealership here and they got in a 97runner 2wd 4cy with 89K in GREAT condition on trade.
i got it for $5100, what they paid for it on trade, ended up being like $5600 after taxes.
i threw on new tires (ltx m/s) and swapped out the stereo/speakers.
GREAT 4runner.... great price.

I think it's a fair price if they've maintained it well with all records. If not, don't chance it unless he goes lower.
