Price Question

Hey guys,

Thinking about getting into the 4Runner world and found a nice 2007 SR5 6cyl 2wd with 108,563 miles and dealer wants $17,000 otd for it. To me this seems high after looking at KBB, edmunds, and NADA and I was thinking more along the lines of $14,000 otd. Am I off my rocker thinking it should be that low or is $17,000 a decent deal? It's high. 2wd?!?!?!?!?! If they have all records and the timing belt /water pump were done, it's a $13.5k truck. If not, it's a $12.5k Truck. I bought my V5 SR5 4WD with 120k for $13.5k OTD in NC. They had an 07 Limited V8 4WD with 110k for $12.8, but it was an Illinois corrosion magnet.

Don't settle here. Either get a 4WD, or lowball is the offer of the day. I'd never give 17K for an 07 2wd with 100k+.

Thanks for the replies! I figured that was on the high side. I'm going to come back at them for $14,000 OTD and see what happens. I figure if I can get it for $15,000 at the most then that is a pretty decent deal. Funny thing is they have the truck listed for $14,800 so a quote of $17,000 OTD means they are trying to charge almost $1400 in tag and dealer fees! Ridiculous! Only thing that sucks is trying to find an 06 or 07 around the knoxville area is few and far between. Oh well, just have to have patience I guess.

Id say thats way to high. The wife and I just bought a 07 Limited with the same mileage, all the maintenance records, bran new tires, immaculate condition for 17k otd.

Thats high. I'm in the Nashville area and paid 14 for a 08 4wd with 94,000 miles last summer. I looked for months and jumped on this one when I saw it. Look around the Nashville area there's many more options usually, and check the small cities Craigslists, sometimes you'll find great deals.

Um, not to split hairs, but the V6 has a timing chain, NOT a belt and thus does not need to be changed until 170k-180k. Just sayin.

You're right about that. Originally I had my prices a few hundred higher, then I realized it was a V6 and dropped those numbers, but left that bit in about the belt/water pump.

The TB/WP advice actually still holds true if the OP finds a V8. If it had those records, it would be worth at least $800 more to me. V6 buyers can adjust their thinking on that.
