Price to Pay/Pros and Cons of Buying this 4Runner

I've got a guy at work that is trying to sell me his 2008 Sport Edition 4WD v8 4Runner. I want to know the pros and cons of buying this SUV, and what price to offer him. I'm located in Knoxville, TN. It is very clean!

These are the specs.

factory tow kit
53000 miles
V8

I don't care what that'd cost, I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat! It's so hard to find that color around here and in V8... plus lower miles.
Around here you wouldn't find that going for less than $22K.

$23k firm. Just bought essentially the same truck back in March for about that. Mine has 25k miles but is a year older.

That is a beautiful 4Runner... while I love my '04, that '08 would have been a gold mine for me. If you can get it around $22k-25k you're getting a hell of a deal.

Im in Knox/maryville as well.. Let us know price, sounds like a good one, and from someone you know is even better. If you get this, any ideas or plans for it?

There are a couple runners around here that have some work done if you want to look at em, let me know!

I don't really know of any Con's other than MPG, and with a stock v8 it won't be bad!! 17-18 prob.

Pro's, they are amazing vehicles

For people that have that model 4runner, what options and features are included? Is the v8 alot worse on gas?

Well I know others will chime in on this, Being a sport 2008 your probably going to have most options on the vehicle.

Leather or not, if leather heated seats, if not leather, no heated.
Navigation or no navigation, with JBL that no navi I believe, my JBL is great, especially with the factory sub replaced with the JL 8
im sure it has a sunroof.

What is your friend wanting for it?

v8 is 1-2 mpg difference than v6, you will be happy with v8

Pros: Great truck & specs. I would say 22-24k, it has low miles and looks maintained. Plus you know the guy, I doubt he's hiding a massive issue with the truck. Check the XREAS system (shocks) & CV joints for leaking/seapage. They should be fine but if off-roaded it is possible they could have a leak.

Cons: It has the stock tires, they will need replacing very soon. The Dunlops only last maybe as long as 60k with proper rotation. This will be $600-$1000 depending on what type of tires you replace them with.

Either way, buy it. You will not look back. Ever.

Great point, my original tires made it to about 47k miles.

I love my '08 V8 sport; the maintenance is easy and it's very dependable. Even in stock form with the X-REAS, it's a very capable off-roader. The only downside to the V8 is that the timing belt has to be replaced at 90k miles (around $900 or so), but it's worth it to me for how awesome that engine is all-around. Good luck.

Last weekend I went to Nashville to get a 2006 sport V8 4WD. 42k miles and brand new BFG AT KO'S. Paid 19.8k and I think I got a pretty good deal.

They are worth their weight in gold. Buy and never look back. If you don't want it, post up his contact info and I will go pick up another one.

i'm fairly local (lexington) and i paid 17.9K for a clean 2007 SR5 with same miles from the dealership. a V8 should fetch $2-3k or so more, maybe less if private

I'm going to offer 21.5k, and hopefully get a break on the taxs alittle bit. He's coming to show me it tomorrow. I'm very excited! Can't think of any mods that I want to do yet, any recommendations? Possibly headunit and upgrade the sub. New tires as well.

Definitely buy it, I traded in my 03 sport for an 08 of the same color and love it
