GT radial Savero HT plus review

1st time post here. I have a 05 sr5 2wd 4runner. I had the Mich CT's on the 4runner and got about 39,000 miles on them. I drive really hard in city traffic and I had a flat in the sidwall of one and had to ride on my spare for a while. I probablly could of gotten about 45 or 50k but oh well. So my lease ends in a couple of years so I didn't really want to spend 800 bucks or more on tires if all i need is 2 years worth of tread. So I did a ton or research and narrowed my choices to these tires. These are the 3 least expensive tires and best tires I could find for under 600.00 bucks installed. I didn't include any dunlop tires though since I can't stand them.

265/65/17- Charlotte NC stores
hancook dyna pro-$506.00 out the door-440 treadwear
Toyo open country ht- $560.00 out the door- 600 something TW
Gt Radial Savero ht plus- $436.00 out the door 460 treadwear

I ended up getting the GT Radial Savero ht plus at a Clark tire store here in Charlotte. They look just like the Mich CrossT's. and have a higher treadwear rating. I have only put about 40 miles on them but they seem great. I have the black walls out. They might be a lilttle louder but traction is great. I'll get back to you after I try them in the rain. Michelin actually owns 15% of the GITI tire company. Check out their site for more info on their tires. Press cancel when it says to DL a language install. You dont need it.

I couldn't find many reviews on these tires so I thought I would post it here. So if your looking for some good cheap tires for your 4runner check out the Gt Radial's Savero ht plus. Great deal when I can get two sets of gt's for less than the prcie of one set of Ct's. I"m going to try and post an image below but I"m a newbie at this. Thanks and hope this info helps someone.

Does no one like these tires??

I just drove on a 700 mile trip on them and they seem to be great. They probablly aren't as smooth or quite as the Ct's but for half the price you can't beat it. The traction seems to be great. Handling is the same as the Ct's. I haven't had a chance to drive in the rain yet, we are in a severe drought here in NC. Well I hope this information helped someone. Thanks

never heard of them...thats probably the issue. No one has delt with many offbrand tires here on the board.
 
I gotcha. Yeah, I've never heard of them before either but I thought I would give them a try and share the experience here on the board for anyone that is looking for a inexpensive tire for the 4runner.

Please give us a report when you have 500-1,000 miles on these. The price is pretty attractive.

BTW - I saw these on an older Ford Explorer in a parking lot in So. Cal the other day.
 
I now have about 900 miles on them and everything seems great. It was raining this morning so it was the first time it rained here in about a month. The roads were really slick because of the lack of rain and build up of oils and the tires held their own. I was at a stop and made a left hand turn. I just about floored it while turning left to see what would happen and the rear end held its own. The traction control came on for about a second but the tires did just fine with the oil slick and wet roads. I haven't been through a big down pour yet in them.

So far I love the tires for the price. You can't beat $436.00 for all four with free rotation and balancing for the life of them. Yeah I could of probablly gotten a another tire for a couple of hundred dollars more but these are just fine for driving around town and highway driving. I'll update more when I get more miles on them.
 
I now have about 1,500 miles on them. They are wearing great. Very good traction, very quite, good response. It finally rained here and they did great. No sense of hydro planing or loss of traction. For the money these tires are awesome.
 
GITI Tire

I have a set of Runway Enduro's they are a GiTi Tire and I have been impressed with the way they handle and ride. Also, I have 20,000+ miles on them and they still look new. Most miles are highway. I just bought another set of Giti Tires The GT Radial Savero HT for my F-150 pick-up I even paid a few dollars more for them than the Kelly Tires (a goodyear brand) and I havent had good luck with Goodyear tires.
 
It would be nice to see how they hold up over time. As far as Cross Terrians, I posted a thread here about my Cross Terrians lasted about 55,000 miles and a lot of members gave me grief about that. I switch to Mich. LTX, hoping they will last a little longer.

I agree Cross Terrains are great tires, I guess some of us have trouble with how long they last.

I have the same Cross Terrains like you and will probably only get about 55-60,000 out of them. I rotate every 6000 and they're wearing good at 44,000! I'm very pleased with them, but I can't justify the cost. Have you heard anything about the Continental Cross Contact LX tires? I don't want to decrease my gas mileage and that's a concern of mine with these contact tires. I've heard reports that it might. I'm mainly city driving, but squeeze every little gas saving tip I can out of my runner! Glad gas is going down a little here in NC...

Update on my Gt Radial Savero ht plus- $436.00 out the door 460 treadwear from Clark tire.

I have 15k on the tires now with mostly city driving with rotation done every 6k and I would say they are wearing just as well or better than the Michelins Xterrains that came on the 4runner. They tend to handle just as well but I have noticed the wet traction on take off isn't as good but I'll give that up for the savings I have gained. There isn't a perfect tire out there but for $436.00 out the door you can't beat these tires.

Consumer reports review:

Consumer reports just rated Continental Cross Contact LX tires very good. Actually they were the top pick for ride, wear and one other category. I think I'm going to go with them. I have 47,000 on my CT Mich. now and still have another 10,000 "maybe" Wearing very good. I can pick them up for less than $600 since I have the Mich warranty for tread life and not meeting 60K.

I had the Cross Contacts on my last 4Runner. I had them on for 13 months and put 30,000 miles on them. I loved them. Very very quiet, the best tire I've ever had in the rain, and they rode very smoothly. If I remember correctly, I got them for like $500 out the door, though they may be pricier now.

Get them. You won't regret it.

I bought a set of Savero HT Plus GT Radials for my Landcruiser. Mitchelin were on it origionaly and I got nearly 50k out of those. The Savero looks similar and appears to be a good hard tyre, knocked up just under 4000 miles and can't notice any ware yet. A bit more expensive here in Ireland 450 euro roughly around $600.
All in all looks to be a superb tyre, would recomend.
