Prinsu Roof Rack Vibration/Resonance

Hello Prinsu Roof Rack Owners,

I recently had to remove my ROLA basket due to vibration and resonance at highway speed.

It’s time for a replacement, and the 7/8 Prinsu caught my eye! I have combed through all of the Prinsu threads here and I have only seen a handful of comments about wind noise and resonance. Is anyone struggling with resonance or obnoxiously loud wind noise? I want to make sure that I don’t spend $800 on a Rack that may be problematic!

You don't have to remove the Rola rack to get rid of the resonance, you just need to attach something to several bars in order to break it up. As soon as I attached two fuel mounts, the resonance completely disappeared. Before that, I had used a black rubber strap wound in/out of each bar; it also worked, and was not noticeable.

I noticed that with limited cross bars and it would make noise/ vibrate, so I ended up buying 3 more cross bars and have had no issues since.

Well that sucks for me because I already took it off and left it at my cabin 250 miles away :Cry:

That's good. For the most part, people seem to really like the prinsu, and don't have too many issues. But I did see a couple people struggle with them.

I have 7/8 rack and I don't have any problems really with wind noise, that is, until I added a light bar. Now every once in a while, it sounds like I have a family of wolves on my roof. It only happens if I go faster than 75 mph, and the wind has to hit it just right.

However, any roof rack will have noise problems "depending" on how you attach the light bar.

That’s good to hear. Like you said, any rack will make wind noise. I don’t mind a little wind noise, but I can’t stand resonance. It was so bad in my case, it would shake the whole roof, steering wheel, and even down into the pedals!

I have the 7/8 rack and haven't notice much wind noise at all except for a few times when driving in strong head or cross winds.

Full prinsu rack, no resonance. Increased wind especially at 80 or during crosswinds on the highway. Otherwise you don't even know its there. It's wife's daily driver for work and she has a short commute so its a non factor. we only use it on the highway to take it camping and then the rack is loaded up with our camping shi1t anyways lol.

No resonance or vibrating?

I haven't noticed any. I did have a vibration noise at one time coming from it but it was due to me being lazy when I took my awning off and I left the mounting bolts in the channels, lol. As far as any resonance, haven't heard a thing. When I add the awning, Titan Rod Vault, and Maxtrax to it, I have wind noise but that is to be expected.
