Prior Preparation, Prevents Piss Poor Performance!

Went up to Tahoe yesterday. I had not been in the snow for some time. Last time I filled the windsheild washer reservior, I must have used regular water.

It froze. Viz-a-viz no F....ing Vizability

I tried filling with sub zero windsheild washing fluid, but the lines were already frozen, so I couldnt get it thru the lines to the washer jets.

No washers for maybe 300 miles.

I took a regular water bottle of drinking water and punched a small hole in the cap, and used that to wash the windshield from time to time.

BTW it was -6 degrees F in Truckee this morning. I think it was 19 last night when I came thru.

ya that happened to me. RIGHT after I bought my new 4R we were hit with -6 degree weather and they froze up immediately. I was so upset thinking that it was normal for 4Rs and turns out they don't use reliable washer fluid in denver.

Pulled into the garage, let it warm up for a little, tried it, and it was perfect. Needless to say I went straight to the auto store to get some good stuff.

Aggravating isn't it!? And Scary. I hate it when I can't see.

I had the same thing in a Subaru I used to have. The cheap oil change shop on 19th AVE in SF filled up the washer fluid with water.

After that, I would fill my washer reservoir right before I took the car in.

Now that I am in the burbs with some space I can do my own oil changes again.

I bought a gallon up in Myers on the 50. It cost about $5. I seam to remember last time I bought it up there in Nv it was about a buck a gallon.

are you coming back to Sac or staying up in Alaska?

I am probably going to have to move either to Los Angeles or back to the bay area. I was laid off 7 months ago and cannot keep this house. so Im selling it

OK. GLAD you found something...... I think after 4 years I am done with Sac nothing unfavorable, love the weather but Alaska is home. What kind of work do you do Monsieur?
