Privacy curtain / Window coverings

I spend a lot of time sleeping in the back of my 2004 4Runner.
Last winter in Death Valley it was ohhhh soooo very cold. Despite a zero degree sleeping bag it was just plain cold in side. I figure Im offering up a lot of body heat to the windows and was wondering if there is some sort of pre-made device, eg, privacy curtain or window shields, that I can use to prevent so much radiant heat loss. I was considering cutting foam core in the shape of all my rear windows and securing with velcro if it comes down to that. Any ideas???? Thanx.

Jean - I car camp a bit as well and but the cold is not as big a deal. I enjoy those cold night with the rig. I throw the chushions from the couch in the back for a good night sleep. I also removed the lower part of the back seat to get more storage and really stretch out.

Down here in FL we all have dark tint and put sun shades when parked outside. Perhaps you can cut up and old sun shade - the kind you use under the windshield to stop the sun from heating up the rig? I have some I use on the front windows but just to keep it a bit more private - but I bet it could work to keep heat in as well?

In the pix you can see the sun shade in the front - did not run the side one's that night.

My wife & I will be sleeping in the back once we get on the superferry and go to Maui. No need rent a car and no need hotel =).

Can you clarify when you said you removed the lower half of the back seat? Do you mean the part you sit on...you removed that? With the lower seat attached, does that affect the amount of room you have when you lie down?

I run my rig as a flat bed all the time. So with the lower part of the back seat removed you open up not only the space behind the front seats but also under the fold down part. You also get total lumbar with the front seats. You can kind of see the extra space. The seat is all the way back.

I love options...that looks cool. I wish we still had drive-in theaters where i live...that would be perfect.

So all you did was unscrew the bolts of the seat connecting to the chassis?

One thing I dont care for in our 4R's is the finish of the cargo area. i can see the scratches in yours and I hate when I scratch mine. Maybe it is just me, but I wish they would have lava/Rhino lined the back cargo area, walls and side pillars? Maybe something I can look into.

I am going to show my wife this pix so she doesnt freak out when she sees me unscrewing the seat.
