Privacy Glass

I just picked up a 2006 Nautical Blue 4Runner SR5 4x4 and it has the privacy glass option. It has tint on it as well. Is the privacy glass on all of the windows except for the front two? It is on the rear trunk window as well, right? I am thinking of having the tint removed from the privacy glass and just getting the front two windows to match the privacy glass. About what percentage tint does the privacy glass alone equal?

It depends by what type of "privacy" glass we are talking here. The factory "privacy" glass is in the 35% range, but is just colored glass. It has no UV protection like tint does. After market "privacy" glass can be a huge array of things. The people at the tint shop referred to mine as "privacy" glass, but mine is full limo all the way around, and double limo on the very rear window.

Obviously there is some difference in window darkness between my "privacy" glass and the "privacy" glass you are referring to. It would be more beneficial to get the % of the tint, rather than it being called "privacy" tint. It's too vague.

All the rear windows have it on them. Mine registered around 22 or 23 percent on the meter. I had 20% added to the front two and it matched pretty well.

I would just be careful removing the tint from the rear windows, the defrost and antenna are located on them and can be damaged.
