Pro Comp 7069 wheels, custom TRD center caps, Duratracs, turn signal lenses

It's November and I finally have both time and funds to do some upgrades. I will post more pictures of the parts and status of the work as it gets done. Here's what I'll be doing:

• Pro Comp 7069 alloys in matte black (5)—P/N 7069-6883
• Custom TRD center caps from Wheeler's Off-Road—P/N EXC84B (inspiration from [MENTION=44220]BigFishAllDay[/MENTION])
• New set of Goodyear Duratrac 285/75/R16s
• Gorilla Automotive lug nuts in black chrome (20 count), 12x1.5 thread—P/N 21133BC
• McGard wheel locks in black chrome (4 count), 12x1.5 thread—P/N 24026
• DEPO crystal clear replacement turn signal lenses for front bumper—eBay

UPDATE 12/04/16—Wheels, tires, and front turn signal lenses installed!
I decided to forego the center cap logos for now. I liked how Wheeler's glossy center caps and the Gorilla lugs went against the matte black wheels.

Definitely curious to see how those center caps look! I've been debating getting some for a long time, just haven't ever pulled the trigger.

Good choice on the tires/wheels :wink2: that's what I ran for 2 years and ~30k miles, I have nothing but good things to say about it.

I was thinking about picking up a set of those wheels soon. They're 15% off on 4wheelparts + $100 mail rebate. Are you going to paint the centercaps to match the wheels? I could be wrong but the wheels are flat and caps are gloss?

You're right. The caps are gloss and the wheels are matte. I'm going to see what they look like together, but I've got a couple days to figure out if I can somehow coat/seal them with a matte finisher. Don't have a solution for that yet. I may gloss finish the center of the cap, masking the sides, then mask the center and finish the sides in matte. Open to ideas

It might look good with the gloss on matte. If you want it to match, then I'd probably rattlecan it because I don't have any experience in other finishes, plus it's easy.

Yeah, I'm going to check it out. I also just discovered a possible other option: replacing the center logo that comes with the Pro Comp 7069 center hub. The logo area is 55mm wide, and I found some resin TRD logo stickers (black with silver lettering) on eBay that will fit exactly. Here are some photos. This way I can still use the center hub from Pro Comp which is matte black, and just replace the logo with the TRD! Hopefully it will work and I won't have to paint anything.

Just a little info from my experience with my Pro Comp 7069s. When Discount Tire tried to mount the center caps with the wheels, they didn't fit. I didn't know that they had difficulty with the center caps and I was sitting around thinking, what the hell is taking so long. But they eventually came and got me and showed me the issue. They told me that the lip or something on the hub centric mounting surface, combined with the center cap, made it impossible to mount. Now, I understand that Pro Comp has a few different center cap options. Maybe they just ordered the wrong part for me. I didn't really care much at the time so I didn't look into getting replacement center caps.

Maybe someone else with this popular wheel can chime in. I know [MENTION=44220]BigFishAllDay[/MENTION] has almost the same wheel, (Pro Comp 8069s), where the main difference seems to be 11mm of offset vs. our 7069s with 12mm of offset. That, AND his are gloss finish. Originally he did not have the center caps installed, I believe he didn't care for the chrome finish or something. I see that he purchased some center caps from Wheeler's Offroad.

I think it might be worth doing a simple test fit before you get too far along in your modification.

Anyone else with 7069s care to chime in?

Yup. Mine is a 2002. It might be worth PMing a few people that use that wheel. It is pretty popular. But, I don't see many running center caps. I have read a few complain that the Pro Comp centers are just cheap plastic not worth running anyway. I didn't really care on way or another so I haven't looked into other options.

Don't quote me, but I believe the issue centers around different center bore measurements between wheel and hub. Maybe try calling Pro Comp.

Cool! Thanks man. I might have to pick some of these up the next time I drive by 4Wheelparts in Tacoma. Do they just push in the center from the rear of the wheel? The 7069s are a simple classic design that were an easy choice for me

Yes. The center hubs fit through the back just like the hubs that come with the wheels. They're a great fit.

Hey, I know this post is older but I am wondering how those rims and tires worked out for you? I have the same colour 4runner and love the style of those procomps. Wondering if you got much rubbing on the inner fender, body mount or pinch weld.
