I know these questions have probably been asked and I apologize for that. Ive searched and it appears the search engine doesn't work like others. You get a lot of threads that aren't really significant to your search.

Either way, I just bought a 98 4-runner after bailing on attempting a Tacoma purchase. I saved a few thousand, but now need to buy tires. Instead of placing those tires on not-so-good split threes, I'm thinking of buying these wheels:

Series 52 Rock Crawler - Black Steel Wheel by Pro Comp

6 x5.5, 4.25 back spacing, 16x8's.

I love steel wheels. Goes back to my old water cooled VW days I think. I'm just wondering how these wheels will fit? With the 4.25" BS, will the tire/rim be somewhat lined up with the body panel (SR5- no flares!). A little poke is ok, but I don't want too much for fear of rock chips, and terrible appearance. On the other hand, I find tires that don't line up with body panels look horrible. Must be flush or slightly poking.

I'll probably be running 265/75/16 BFGoodrich T/A KO's on stock suspension. Eventually I'll put new springs and struts on it. Sadly, mild offroad for this vehicle. Plenty of dirt/gravel/fire roads and mountains passes, but it wont see the trail, or very little just to go camping, etc.

Anybody know how this will look?

I guess another question would be if these wheels work? Hubcentric, etc. Will they work on a 4Runner?

Have you looked at Wheelers Offroad? He sells steel wheels and has alot of information on the website about them. Can't help on the ones you posted other than 4.25in backspacing is probably going to stick the tire out farther than you like.

They are going to stick out pretty far, especially if you don't have any kind of fender flares. If they were the same backspacing as the original wheels, they would stick out an inch further than stock (since they are x8 and stock is x7). Add in the fact that there is less backspacing, it will push them out even further...you're looking at roughly 1.5" further than stock. But your tires won't bulge as much with the wider wheel. I actually dont think it would look too bad...you can get some mud flaps that will help with the flinging of debris.

Unfortunately I wasn't familiar with specs on stock wheels but this clears things up nicely!

I'll search around for some pics to get an idea. I really appreciate the help!

Like others have said, the wheels might stick out a little further than you'd like. Here's mine with 16X8.5's and 4.5 backspacing...

I saw this on the Ultimate Yota forum and think it might work for you. If you use the the stock sterile as your wheel instead of a spare just find 3 more. This way you won't have to worry about back spacing or the tire sticking out too far. I actually like the way this looks and am considering going this route myself

using the stock spare steel wheels will be your best bet, they are stronger than just about any steel wheel out there, and will hold the bead better than after market wheels
