Problem getting my TrueFlow air filter to fit. Need Some Help!

Hey folks. I finally got my TrueFlow filter yesterday that had been on backorder for a while and I could not get it installed. I know it sounds stupid but I tried everything that I could and I could not get it to go down far enough for the lid to close. I tried forcing it, prying it in, everything. The filter is just barely not fitting uinder the lip below the lid that the filter should fit under. I had to put my K&N filter back in and was a little disappointed in the whole ordeal. I am not a complete noob at this stuff as I have had a stock filter, K&N FIPK, and currently a K&N filter. But I have never had this problem before.

Does anyone have any advice or hints? I am ready to start using my nice new filter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

lay the trueflow onto of the K&N, and see if the the trueflow is any bigger as far the the outer diameter. If it is, swap it for a new one, if not...push a little harder. Mine went in just as easy as the old one came out...so its not a normal true flow thing.

The True Flow fits extremely tight but will fit. When I installed mine it was a very tight fit, had to force it in to make it fit and the lid just closes enough to be held down with the clips. If yours still doesn't fit correctly, return it and get a new one or shave some of the plastic off the filter to make it fit.

Flip it, the red side is where the fresh air comes in. On my 04 4runner the red side is down.

people will tell you it fits tight. i read that about everywhere before ordering one.

well, it fits REALLY tight. basically, its a pain in the neck to get it. you'll get it eventually, i think i was actually using screwdrivers trying to pry it in by the time i was done.
