problem reattaching track bar

hey all, i took the track bar off the rear axle so i could drop it down low enough to get a new set of springs and shocks installed.

problem is, i can't get it to line back up to reattach it. i'm within 3/8" of an inch, i put an awl in the bolt hole and tried to pry it so i could line it up to put the bolt through the other side, but i can't quite get it.

i've also tried jacking up the axle (center, passenger, and driver side), to no avail. is there a trick for pushing that axle over?

I used a ratcheting tiedown strap. Just wrap it around the axle and frame and start ratcheting til you can get the bolt in.

Hey just in the future, you can get the shocks off just by unbolting them, and as far as new springs i have found a neat trick. No trac bar removal

1. take a buddy, or gf, or whatever.
2. take your shocks off,
3. drive carefully to a steep bank or somewhere you can flex out your 4runner. I used a
bank where some recent construction has happened.
4. flex the truck and the springs will fall out
5. have your buddy hold the new spring in place while you slowly back down.

6. repeat on the other side.

after i found this trick out i would say a rear lift can happen in 15 minutes

Make sure the rear passenger shock is unbolted on the bottom. Jack the driver side of the axle up, while using the factory bottle jack to push the passenger side of the axle down.

LOL, crazy...

just have your buddy stand on the brake drum, if he weighs 200 plus it should easily give you enough room.

oh, and always do your driver side first and if you need too, jack up the opposite end drum.

but the OP got it done with the ratcheting straps. these are ways to do it without undoing the panhard.

Brian2sun and I did the shortcut method. it works. I hate being under a truck with jacks trying to flex it out etc.
