Problem with Base Stereo Sound Quality

Hi All,

I am currently waiting on the 5495 from eclipse to come out....and cannot wait for it to hit shelves mainly due to my 05 4runner sport's radio. To put it simply, it is TERRIBLE. To actually 'hear' the radio I have to turn the volume up to 29-35, my 4runner seems to get horrible radio reception. Even on stations that come in 100% clear in every other car I own, static is definitely present (every station as well as local clear channel owned stations contain static). I have read this board long enough to unerstand that perhaps my signal booster is not connected.....but I have never removed the stereo or any of its components before.....maybe the dealer forget to hook them up or something? I understand I have the low ball stereo but the quality is absolutely ridiculous.....I am talking wal-mart open box type quality. My wife just purchased an accord with a base stereo. Sound quality, hers blows mine away...... Should I take it back to the dealership, or is this normal with the non-jbl, standard base stereo?

Not normal. Mine pulled in all the stations fine. It will only take a hour to remove the head unit and check the plug yourself.

If it does not improve, see the dealer. If there is a problem with the actual booster (not a loose plug), get it fixed under warranty before you put in the eclipse.

Take a look at my signature! This is the system that I just put in. I do not have the finished pics just jet because it is at the shop getting worked on and just let me tell ya! It hits hard!!!
