Problem with black strip a corner of windshield

I'm having a problem with the black strip at the corner of the windshield. It looks like they've buckled up on both sides. I've had the car for over 6 months and no leaks as of yet. I don't know how long it's been like that but it had to be a while since I've noticed it 2 weeks after I purchased it.

Anyone have an idea what that does and how that can be fixed (without replacement if possible)? I tried pushing them down but they just come right back up. Below are the pictures from each side.

Just curious, I was checking my '07 Sport. what year do you have?

It's only a trim that cleans up the look between the edge of the glass and sheet metal. The windsheild if installed properly will not leak even without the trim in place.

Mine is also popped up, but not as much as yours though. You can try using some 3M automotive double side tape and stick down. If it's under warranty, you could see if the dealer will take care of it. If it was me, I would rip more of it out first before going to dealer so it's now a bigger issue. Don't blame me, if they won't do anything and you followed my advice ripping it some more. :

The way I see it, it's Toyota's quality sliding down the hill or falling off the cliff.

It's a 2004 that I bought as a certified pre-owned last October. I'm not sure if it was like that when I bought it, I would assume not as it's prominent enough that I would've noticed it.

Glad to hear (i guess) it's only trim and won't cause major damage. I'll try the double sided tape, or maybe put silicon in there to hold it down. Since it's a CPO with a 100k warranty I wonder if that's covered, gotta go home and check the warranty.

My '05 looks the same, I havent noticed any problems other than it doesnt look the greatest. If it really bothers you take it to the dealer, its not worth it IMO.

Mine is like that a little too "05 SR5", but not quite as bad. From your picture, it looks as though the rubber piece along the top of the windshield is resting underneath the piece you're having a problem with. From the picture, it looks like those side pieces have little tabs on them that suggest they're supposed to slip underneath that top part along the top of the windshield?

Question: do you have a replacement windshield? Look at the bottom corner of the passenger side of the glass. Does it have a name imprinted on the glass, like "Plingkton, or SafeGlass"?

Mine is a replacement "Plinkgton" that the dealer installed before I bought it. I made them redo it because the install guy did such a poor job putting the trim pieces back on.

On a side note: The weatherstripping that runs along the channels of the roof, between the roof racks, pops out. I know on mine, if I sit under the air dryer machine at the car wash for too long, the wind will get up under them and pull them off. You might try to take off your racks and see if you can pull the trim back a bit to get some of the slack out.

I'm having the samw issue and last time it rained hard water got into my car. How much does the dealer chanrge to change these?
