Problem with Softex seat cover

Same thing here on my Limited leather seats, so it's not just a Softex issue. I fixed it once, and thought maybe it was always like that since new and was something missed at the factory. Checked yesterday and it was undone again! This time, I really did a good job of tucking it back under so we'll see how long it lasts.
Not a big deal, but it's not good seeing expensive leather seats coming undone like this. If it happens again, I'll have them look at it when I go in for Toyota Care.

I went to a Canadian Dealership (Open Road) they fixed it and it's messed up again. They claim there is no CDN TSB for this.

Same with you guys, mine is on the passenger side rear bench, I tucked it back really good but will see what happens. It's chappy you pay for a presumably premium package but shit can barely hold together. The clips to those things feels like Walmart price tag holder.

I Go through open road too. This is not good...hopefully enough of us coming in for this issue will allow them to make a TSB for it.

I have the same thing going on with my rear passenger bench and Toyota has already ordered parts. This is for my 2014 Limited.
They said one part is on national back order. I will take some pics and post to see if everyone else is having the same issue. From what I heard from a tech this is a common issue.

I went back in again today. Open Road is now ordering me a new seat cover. The clips are now too damaged to fasten.

We have had the same problem with our trail, they ordered an entirely new seat cover and it did the same thing the first day the kids got got off of it. They want to take it to a local upholsterer so he could put c-clips on it & personally when I think of c-clips I think to my 1966 Truck that had c-clips holding burlap to the springs... I told them no sir not yet that will tear quickly over time. The dealership recognized it's a problem, just no solution yet.
Did your dealer open a case with Toyota? If they did not, you should have them do so, and keep taking it back every time it comes loose so they can document it for the case.
I've had my new seat cover and different clips on for close to 8 weeks and have had no problems. Have had both adults and squirmy kids on the seat. It really feels fastened down tight now.

Yes they did & it's loose again, I just did not like the idea of being the lab rat.
It's great to hear they took care of you and there is a solution.
Are the clips on your new cover integrated or how does the new/repair differ from the old?

I struggled when I bought my TE because I really wanted a sunroof but was really not smitten with the required SofTex. Thus I own a TE not a TEP.
I have a long experience with Toyota cloth seats and I know they hold up forever if given even a modicum of care.
I'll be curious to see how the SofTex seats hold up over the long haul. No offense to those who like them/own them, but I just don't see them having the longevity of cloth and I am certain the brass rivets on my beloved 501's would destroy the bolster on the side when I get in and out of the truck.

I love my 2015 trail cloth seats more and more. I never had a problem with the cloth seats in my 1990 4Runner and I took that thing all over Colorado for all kinds of activities.
Softex just seems kind of poorly implemented. I'd consider leather down the road if I really trash my seats, but for now I have no regrets.

I concur. My 2002 3rd gen had 113K miles when I traded it in and the upholstery still looked almost new. Granted, I take very good care of my vehicles but Toyota has fabric down pat.
Again, I'll be interested to see how the SofTex holds up over the years, but my experience with "vinyl" leather is that it just doesn't hold up to UV or stress (like the constant wear and tear when you climb in the cab) like a really good fabric does.
But, I could be wrong. Time will tell.

Same thing happened to me. Brought it to the dealership and they replaced the whole back seat cover. Haven't had an issue since.
