Problem with starting...starter connectors?

I'm having a problem with my 2000 4Runner starting. It has 105K, and has a brand new battery. Most of the time it cranks right up, but sometimes it doesn't turn over at all. After trying it about 2-3 times, it will finally turnover. Did anyone else experience this before? Could it be corroded connectors on the starter? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Be more specific, what do you mean not turn over as in the starter is not running or the engine doesn't catch? I

The starter won't crank at all. You turn the key in the start position and nothing happens. Then after about 2-3 times doing it, it will start right up like normal.

happens to me also. but now, i turn the key to power the car. then i wait and then start to ignite the car. which it works then. but just to make sure, clean your connection of the corrosion very good before putting it back onto your new battery. i also got a new battery also and so i cleaned my cables very well so i could get full power from the battery.

Thanks for the help everyone. I talked to my mechanic who also told me that the starter contacts were prone to corrosion on the 4Runners, and that they most likely weren't making contact anymore. I purchased a starter contact repair kit w/ a new plunger for $20. As soon as it gets here I'm gonna pull the starter and replace it. Hopefully that will solve my problem.

It my be the contacts, but you should just have the starter replaced. I had the same problem, worked like a charm.
