Hello All,
I am new to the forum and have a major question. I searched to see if there is another post with this info, but could not find one.
I have a 2005 Limited V8 4Runner with approximately 55k miles on it. I am the only owner the truck has ever had.
Recently, my VSC lite has been coming on and off at will. If I turn the engine off, and turn it back on, it will go out. I am not concerned about this because I know the dealer can hopefully address that.
However, the bigger issue is that sometimes (both when the light is off or even on), my truck will start beeping like it is actually slipping. This happens when I am accelerating or driving at a constant rate, driving on flat road, bumpy, wet or dry roads. I cannot predict it, but because it is so random it scares the *bleep* out of me everytime it happens. I am driving along, hear the beeps and then the truck starts decelerating. An entire episode lasts about 3-5 seconds, but I have to grab the wheel because the drop in speed is so drastic. It happens on the highway too. It feels as if the truck is kicking in the anti-lock brakes and I hear a slight grind as it slows down. But as fast as it happens, the truck seems to correct and everything goes back to a relative normal.
I talked to the dealer but have not had them look at it because they said they cannot diagnose it if they cannot replicate the problem. He said it could be a faulty speed sensor but it could be something else. I have no idea. While I am concerned about safety as I drive my family in the truck, I am also hesitate to dish out major money to repair the truck. I would rather just sell it if it is a major repair.
Has anyone experienced this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it may be and how to fix it?
