ProComp ES9000 Shocks? Anyone Running These?

Is anyone here running the ProComp ES9000 Shocks? i've heard from a tacoma guy that he really likes his and hear in general that they're good. I wanna get rid of my oem shocks to help achieve more flex!

I know most people are running Bilsteins, but i'm sure these are comparable.. and it seems much cheaper!

yea.. i have toytec coils in the rear.. adding a longer shock length will help extend them.. it says that on toytecs site and a guy i talked to with a tacoma added them and he got a longer drop.

I would try and find out the exact compression and extension lengths and compare it to the 5100s to see exactly how much extra travel you will get. If I recall correctly, the 5100s are ~3/4" longer than the OEM shocks (and can accommodate 2" lift), so I guess you can compare to that and guestimate how much more travel you will get.

~175 bucks for all 4 ain't exactly going to break the bank, why not get em and let us know how you like them. I doubt anything can be worse than these crapola OEM shocks Toyota gives us :)
 
Yes. There are some things that are worse. ProComp is one of them.

Spend the extra money and get a brand that vehicle manufacturers put into their vehicles from the factory. Not this cheap crap ProComp.

I bet ProComp rides like crap and the seals go within a year or two.

Bilstein 5100 is excellent product for the money. You shouldn't spend less on shocks than what a set of 5100 costs. $400?

i wasn't necessarily looking to spend less.. i just figured i could get more drop out of them

No. I read "OEM" in your original post and did not know you had replaced OEM springs with longer springs and left the now too short OEM shock installed. I now see Toytec 3/2 in your signature. My bad!

Just one word of caution here: Like everything else in this world quality components are usually not the cheapest components. Bilstein 5100's are a good entry point with great reliability and durability. Have fun!

Edit: I just took a quick peek at Tacomaworld and even though they are not quite as eloquent there they basically say Procomp is nowhere near as good as Bilstein. I have never used Procomp but I have used cheap shocks. Bilstein is better than cheap shocks for sure.

ES9000s aren't too bad for the price. It is their 3000 line that sucks ass. I ran both in a Jeep but opted to replace with Bilstein and did not regret it one but.

The compressed and extended length of the shock will net you more droop in your suspension as the factory shocks are limited. The brand of shock does not determine how much more droop you will get out of your suspension. If you were to get the equivalent dimensions of a Bilstein and Pro Comp, you will get the same results with the amount of droop. You are still limited by both with your sway bar attached.

Buy once. Go with something that is tried and true. I used to sell Pro Comp...never again (shocks, at least). They are just rebadged cheapie Monroes. Or at least, used to be.

Dang, Beat me to it. Just get the correct length 5100s or even the Bilstein HDs are still good shocks.

Procomp, trailmaster, rancho, superlift, skyjacker. All those compaines shocks do not belong on a 5th gen truck. Heck im not even a fan of the Fabtech shocks personally.

i figured if we ordered 5100's for the 4runner and i put in my vehicle details/info like at 4wheelparts.com, that it was just one set that are made for the 5th gen? if not? how do i know which to order?

Didn't you change your 4Runner by adding longer springs?

I think he should be sort of okay with the 5100s for the spring he is running? Bilstein spec is up to 2" lift for the rear 5100 shocks and the Toytec rear springs he has are supposedly ~2.5" lift?
