projection headlamp burn in?

Drove a ’06 at the dealer the other night and upon checking out the body for damage I noticed the the headlight lens had a cloudy discoloration apparently from the projection bulb heat. I also noticed that it was rather hot and I had only had the lights on for 15 mins or so. Is this a common occurrence? :wow:

that discoloration on the headlight lens is more than likely just normal clouding over time, not from the actual bulb. I did some research on this as I am looking into a refinishing kit to make mine look new again (Mine are starting to get cloudy - 2005 with 97k miles). From what I read, it depends a lot on where you live. If you sit in traffic all day (LA, Chicago, etc) the exhaust fumes play a major part in making the headlights cloudy. Even if you don't sit in stop and go traffic, UV and other elements will cause the finish on the headlights to wear away and lead to clouding.

Here is the kit I've been looking at getting. It's a little more involved but has received excellent reviews: *NEW* BG LENZSAVER

Also check out their website, it has a lot of info on the clouding.

I agree with krup. I had a really good experience with 3M's kit. If you go that route make sure you use a sealer.
