Propeller Shaft greasing

Hi,

I searched the forum but couldn't find anything on how much grease to put in the sliding yokes. For greasing the joint itself is fine fine, I just stopped when new grease came out.
I am just worried about the other nipples that feed the sliding portion of the shaft. It started pushing it's way out and seemed to put strain on the tranny.
Can anybody tell me how much to put in, does it have to push out a certain distance?

Thanks! Not sure why after entering "propeller shaft" in the maintenance search engine it didn't pick that one up...

well after reading the citation below I am very concerned since I pumped around 30-35 times in the slip joints, and i am sure the transfer case is under stress right now!

"The Toyota engineer said specifically not to pack the location with grease. Period. It is harmful to do so as the force of the impacts that do occur are then transferred to the casing of the transfer case. He said there have been cases of cracked casings because of over-lubing."

So now what is the best way to get some of the grease out? Could I get the nipples out for a bit a go workout the suspension on speed bumps or something? LOL
Any advice out there would be very much appreciated?

For now i'll take it easy on the bumps...

Sounds like it's worth a try.

Unbolt one end of the driveshaft and the grease fitting. You should be able to squeeze it out then.

Thanks for the input, I just finished going by this method and it worked just fine. Just by taking the grease nipple away 1/2 OZ came out! Then I pried the slip joint all the way where the wear marks were and another 1 OZ came out.

Search engine is having trouble. For the time being, you may have better luck searching with Google and specifying that it search the site.
