A metric ton of threads on alignment to be found, many have pics that would show you the OEM specs on the post-alignment printout. Toyota's OEM alignment specs don't change from lift to lift, but because you're lifting and therefore not OEM, you'll likely need more caster (moving the wheels straight forward in the wheel well) to make your steering not feel jumpy or wander-y, and this is why there are aftermarket UCAs (along with not hitting the coilover during articulation). Increasing the caster is an easy way to increase your wheel base since by lifting you have raised your center of gravity.

Add this to the fact that every 4Runner is a little different with regards to the actual geometry and you have the explanation as to why some people get different alignment readings after everything is finished.

Some UCAs (TC, JBA, ICON, Dobinsons) have a fixed non-adjustable additional amount of caster to make it a little more bulletproof for the alignment tech. Others (SPC / Light Racing) the caster is adjustable.

Long story short you should be ok with telling your alignment tech to get everything in Toyota spec while getting you the most caster possible.

Anyone else please chime in with additional knowledge or correct me if I'm mistaken. Good luck man.

For my case, proper alignment spec is as long as it doesn't rub, pull or wanders, it's proper. My caster is 4.9 but gonna need more since it's running and I have 17x9 wheels. I just tell the tech I need a lot of caster. I also have spc control arms.

Hey guys,

Dont mean to take over this thread but was wondering if this is true. I got an alignment after doing 2.5in up front, 2in rear and they were able to get aligned but my steering wheel will be not straight due to one shock being taller than other ( to compensate driver lean). Is this true :/ or possible?

I have same issue. 2nd alignment with tire discounters and steering wheel is still off. Its tad frustrating, I'll schedule another alignment, but may just ask for a refund and goto toyota to get it done.

I just got my Old Man Emu kit installed and aligned with 285/70-17 on OEM UCAs.

Does this look good?

The caster seems a bit low. I have SPC UCA's lying around but didn't install them since I wanted to see how the stock UCA would align. What do you guys think? Will SPC give me more caster. Would 3* caster be better for this kit that gives me 2.5 - 3" lift? What is a good number for caster on these trucks for all around driving (city/highway) ?

My caster is at 5* with the SPC's, straight and true.
