Torque Spec For Cross Member Bar?

Hi All

I had to remove my Cat Shield to change my transmission fluid. I went to put it back on but I couldn’t find the torque spec for the original bolt for the cross member bar (I’m not sure if that’s the correct name). There is a photo of in the link below on Step 3.

The Cat Shield replaces one of the two original bolts with a star M8 screw as a deterrence from someone trying to remove the Cat Shield. The manual gives the torque specs for that but not for the original bolt.

I’ve tried searching for it but found nothing for the cross member bar so I’m not sure if that’s the right name but it what Cat Shield calls it. If anyone know the torque specs please let me know. Thanks.

I replied to your other topic as well.

Almost always the torque value of any bolt is determined by the size and thread of the bolt, why aren't you using the torque value posted in the instructions of the Cat Shield??

Also here's a torque chart based on size and thread type.

Not all nuts/bolts need to be "torqued", "good 'n tight" is sufficient for many, such as what you're dealing with.

Hi AuSeeker

Thanks for your reply.

The Cat Shield manual only gives torque specs for the special bolts in the kit. It doesn’t say anything about the OEM bolt so I don’t know if they are the same or not.

Thank you for the torque chart. It’s very helpful.

Also thanks for the delete tip. I did see it and try to use it but it wouldn’t work. I think the website yesterday was suffering from some type of lag or bug. At first I tried to post nothing posted. I thought my first post didn’t go through so I reposted. Later I saw both had posted. I tried to edit and hit the delete button but nothing happened. I tried to edit and save and that didn’t work either. I could reply but none of the edit buttons would work.

I just now tried using the edit buttons again but none of them will work. I wonder if there is still a lag. I tried using different browsers but the same result. I’m using a iPad.
