So what is the best way to break in the new V8? How should i do so to ensure the best care for my new toy? Would it be bad to go on a road trip with it right away?

As always thanks for the help!

The manual states how to break in the engine, but I forget what it says. I think basically, that you should not tow anything for the first 500 miles or so, and take it easy don't rev to hard or fast. Also many suggest to vary the speed somewhat as best you can for the first few hundred miles.

Enjoy your new Toy! :)

umm i was told that you pretty much do all your normal driving just dont do any hard acceleration's for the 500mi then ur all good to just be gentle ur all good.

have fun and enjoy ur V8

Not related specifically to the V8 but also avoid hard braking as well.

For the engine the manual (I spent a few hours last night reading over mine front to back) says to not stay at a single speed for very long, vary your speed. This helps things break in evenly throughout the vehicle. I have a pretty short commute but the majority of it is on the highway. I am varying my speed between about 62-70 or so back and forth on my commutes. Can't recall how long they recommend for this but I think it was for the first 500-1000 miles or so. Simple 'nuff to do, just don't use cruise :)

I've had many new vehicles in my life and always jut drove normally since day 1 , thats just me , I never had a problem.

Just make sure you do the maint.

Congrats on the V8 , it rocks !!!

Quad cam?
capacity?
Kw or Hp?
torque?

260 hp = 193.8817 kw
306 lb-ft. of torque at 3,400 rpm
Towing capacity 7000 lbs

Thanks for all the help,

So as I take it there would be no problem taking it on a road trip with only a couple hundered miles racked up, I just need to make sure to get teh 1000 mile service. I assume it will have a break in fluids that need to be changed. Am I right in this?

Um, not really...

First fluid change is at the oil change interval...

That said, I changed the dif oil and transfer case fluid at 5k miles along with the engine oil. Everything is Mobil 1 on mine now.
