Proper Way Of Checking Coolant??

What is the proper way of checking coolant level??

wait until you engine is cool and remove the cap on the radiator. look in the top of the radiator and the coolant level should be as full as you can get it without overflowing. The resivor is for overflow and is an okay way to check but the best is by looking inside the radiator. I check mine every month.

From what I understand coolant can break down over time so it might not be a bad idea to test your coolant. You can find one of these tools at any autoparts store, I can't be more specific cause I have no idea what its called. Maybe someone else can chime in.

I check too make sure its there first, Broken down coolant is better than no coolant.

It's a specific gravity tester. Either a bubble tester or a refractometer.

I check too make sure its there first, Broken down coolant is better than no coolant.

Four or five years max should be all the longer it should be before changing it out.
