protecting bumpers

After watching my girfriend's Nissan bumpers get all scratched up by fellow street parkers here in the parking hell of San Francisco over the last year I wondered if anyone has suggestions for how to protect bumpers of an 04 4runner.

One problem is really people pulling out without enough clearence, and scuffing/scratching the corners of the rear bumper. I'm thinking of appling a patch of 3M clear film to each corner but am not sure if it'll really make a difference. Luckily the tow hitch saves the center of the rear bumper from most parking bumps.

Also wondering what the best front bumper guard is (not a full brush guard). The Sport bumper trim seems awfully expensive for a piece of plastic. Can anyone else suggest a (preferabley metal) center front bumper protector to save me from those morons who don't know how long their cars are?

Thanks.

I put on Waag bumper guards front and rear for just this reason. My rear one has rusted a bit near where the exhaust comes out, but it is still pretty sturdy. Waag customer service is worthless, but the bumper guards are pretty nice, not too heavy. Probably about $450 for the pair.

I've had good experience (posted elsewhere here on this board) with the WAAG front runner and rear bumper guards. Low profile and easy to install. I ordered mine from Autoanything.com.

I have the Jaos Center Protector. It's probably one of the most expensive ones out there, but it does look really nice.
