Protecting rear seats from my Kids

First post.. New 2011 4R, cloth interior. Pretty sweet.. (got it over the Jeep GC.. was on the fence)

Got 2 kids under 2. Right now, just put down towels on the rear floor/seats with car seats sitting on top.. works, but looks like crap.. more eloquent solution? Also, wondering if there is something I can put to protect the back of the rear seat from constant kicking.. I probably won't care in 5 years.. but for now, wanting to keep it pristine.

When my kids were young (daughter is now 18, son is 16) and in car seats I did a few things:
1. Took off their shoes if the ride was going to be more than a few minutes as socks do not hurt the seat like shoes will and;
2. bought a blanket that was nylon on one side that matched the interior. The nylon protected from the invariable spills and food and candy and everything else. The blanket covered the entire seat surface. Believe it or not they will quit kicking the seat and spilling crap eventually although it might take some time.

I too just picked up my t4r and was not happy that my daughter who just turned two can easily kick the back of the seat. I put up a kick guard from Babies-R-Us and attached it. So far so good, but I like the idea of taking off the shoes on long trips. TD

At first I just used a smaller bath mat that matched the leather. Once they got older and the boots started touching the back seat I got one of these, works great.

As for the floor, I have rear one piece Husky Liners and they are amazing. No snow, water, food, or thow-up has ever made it on my virgin factory rear carpet!

Had this when the kids were really young. Worked great!

I think it depends on your price point. I've used Wet Okole in the past and had good luck with them. They're neoprene, hold up well, and wash easily. I haven't used them in a 4Runner.

+1 Used on other vehicles, and provided good protection from dirty paws, dog slobber, etc. A wet paper towel or washcloth cleans everything right up.

+2 They have been in my last two vehicles. A friend has had a set in his '01 runner since the vehicle was new and he just replaced them this winter as he finally wore through the cover on the drivers side. The rears are still original and are still holding up great.

Another vote for Husky Liners. Weather Tec also makes nice mats. I'd go with whatever is a bit cheaper.
