Well after much deliberation and sleepless nights I decided on the purchase of a slightly used 1999 4Runner SR5, 4wd, manual. The truck is in incredible shape, only 47k miles, and is loaded. All power, tow package, running boards, leather, the works. I look forward to many miles of smiles.....

This is a great site and I'll be around often....

That is a good year for 4Runners, it looks beautiful. And at 47K I almost have that much on my 2001. I think it will give you years of good, no make that GREAT service.

I paid $17,999. It was a trade-in at a Volvo dealer, but they put on new tires, belts, and hoses plus they detailed the living heck out of it. The engine compartment is cleaner then it was new. I found several for $1k - $2k less, but they didn't have all the options and they had more miles (70k +), and weren't manual. So I was pretty happy with the deal I got. The only thing I plan on adding in the near future is a rear locker.

I've had it for 4 days, put on around 150 miles, and really like it. Power is adequate, the ride is smooth and comfortable, and the truck is solid.

yea, if you plan on ever wheeling it, a locker is so sweet, ive gone places, up rocky hills, bigger truck couldnt make, lockers rule. CONGRADS.

What lockers...

do you have? I priced ARB's front and rear, OUCH... Thinking maybe Aussie in the rear and ARB up front. The Aussie will be available around the first of the year for Gen 3 Runners.

So far about 700 miles and lovin' it....

At 47,000 miles...its not even past the breakin period....It looks and must be brand spankin' new practically....GREAT FIND!!!

just got mine yesterday... 65k v6 4x4 leather..almost the same as yours except diferent color and no running boards ..yet
very happy with the ride and overall feel of it... was a little suprised to watch the gas dissapear as fast as it does... but it will pay off when im truggin through snow this winter as well as mobbin around death valley...

Nathan, you may want to take your 4runner to the dealer for the gas gauge problem. There was a TSB or recall about this. They should be able to fix it for you. The problem was that the gas gauge was very inaccurate and would drop very fast.

Have it check out.

Fuel Mileage

Nathan,
After a couple of tans of gas, I'm at 18mpg calculated with about 40/60 city/highway milage for you reference.... I check mileage at every fillup and try and record it for reference. This is a bit better then my Nissan Frontier King Cab 4X4 I had before the 4Runner.

So far I'm very happy, as I'm sure you will be....

welcome! I got a 99 4runner limited a couple weeks ago, had 44,000 miles on it, and is in immaculate condition, got them to 18k for the truck...looking forward to many great years of this truck...:arrow:

i definitly will.. it seemed that the gauge goes up and down and i was kind of suprised cause ive driven a v8 jeep grand cher. and the gas was not dissapearing like that.....
