I just bought my first 4runner:) I looked at a lot pf cars. My price range pretty much put me in an 08 with about 70k miles. I looked at 4 or 5 at dealers and private sellers, but just as I was about to buy on 08 sr5 at a dealer I found an 05 SR5 V8 with 48000 miles on it. The carfax was clean and supported the mileage. It is a one owner car and it was completely rust free. In fact I climbed underneath every car I looked at and this one looked 6 yearns newer than All of the 08s I drove. The owner said he kept it in his garage. I was shocked when he told me it still had the tires that it came with. Even though they still have enough tread I am going to replace them. I don't trust 10 year old rubber,carfax says he went to the dealer every 5k miles. I can't believe that anyone could drive a car this little. I am hoping that this proves to be more reliable than the car I am replacing a 2007 trailblazer SS that I bought new. It is my families 3rd car, and it is mainly used to pull my boat 3000 lbs on trailer, so I am very glad to have scored the v8. I was about to spend 3k more on an 08 v6 with 75000 miles at my local dealer when I found this gem.

Obviously, keep an eye on in, but it sounds like it was well taken care of. You definitely have quite a few miles left on that belt, I'd imagine.
 
I took the car to my mechanic. He confirmed that it has been well maintained. The only issue it has is that all 5 tire pressure sensors are bad. The mechanic said this is not surprising on a car that is driven seldom, because the batteries recharge while driving. HE thinks that I should replace them when I get new tires, and he said he can reprogram it to ignore the spare. I didn't think it was worth it, but he said because my wife drives too he thinks it is worth it. I am actually leaning toward grounding out a wire to disable the light and keeping an eye on the tires, but I would love feedback. Also dealer price is $52 each. Has any one found a better deal. I searched but mostly found threads about aftermarket wheels. Thanks a lot for any input.

I am not familiar with these engines so forgive my ignorance here but shouldn't there be an inspection cover he could pull to check the condition of the belt every 5 - 10 thousand miles?

I did this on an mr2 I bought with a timing belt of unknown age. The water pump eventually went out and I had it apart anyway but I thought I was doing the right thing by checking the belt every so often.

I have some sensors out of a 2014 4runner. I would do $50 plus shipping for the set. (I have an 03 and do not need sensors)
