Steve, sent you an email to your gmail about my '17 SR5P if you're still in the remote start-wizard business. It's getting cold and I'll probably either be paying someone to put in a compustar remote start or doing it myself.

Thanks for the very thorough response!!! You're a rockstar, I just wanted to get on here and say that if anyone is thinking of doing a remote start, read this thread. Steve answered all my questions and addressed all concerns I had.

Installed Mine today
Went with the base system to get my self going after talking to Steve and the upgrade options that are available to add at a later date. \
As most have said install was easy enough. little nerve racking at first soldering on the column but once i got going it went together pretty quick.
Steve has been great to work with cant recommend him or this system enough.

System for Limited
I'm about to pull the trigger with the kit with Steve, but curious if anyone with a Limited trim has any input/feedback on what system they ended up using.
I was going with the basic setup using the stock fob. But after reading all the post of everyone's experience with the advance system, it sounds pretty cool. I am not sure what works and doesn't work specifically with the Limited trim due to the push start button.

One thing i do have to say:
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND PUPPIES AND KITTENS
DO NOT USE SCOTCH LOCKS/T TAPS/QUICK CONNECTS
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.
it will cause problems with this install, i do not care if you use it on anything else. with this install it is a huge NO NO
I am not singling out one person, it has been done on several occasions. each time the client was frustrated with the system until we realized TOGETHER that it was a bad solder joint or t taps.
Guys great products need a good install to work together!!

Would you happen to know if the remote start is available for the 2018 Limited model? Also, if you know, i would prefer to have the factory remote start installed at the deal and can give me more information in regard to the difference between after market and factory remote start.

I ordered this system from Steve last year. I will say, as someone who was scared to death about soldering and electrical work, it was a big challenge for me. Once I got past that and found my rhythm, it really wasn't that bad.
That being said, I just ordered my 2nd system for my '15 Taco. Im confident it won't take me 2 days this time. Even if I run into trouble, I know my safety blanket (Steve) is there to rescue me.
If you are on the fence about ordering, make the purchase. This has been a life saver keeping my wife happy since moving from the frigid Phoenix winters to Boise. I can honestly say, I think she may have moved back if it wasn't for the remote start.

Yes 2018 is covered. Factory sucks lol. It will shut down when you open the door. Factory is not upgradable.

Thanks. Found out the dealer wanted about $800 to install the factory but reading the review on here it doesn't seem like its worth the hassle. What are the other options and prices for the 2018 Limited 4Runner as far as remote starts?
