Another shout out to Steve
Installed a remote start for Honda Ridgeline in December. It took about 4 hours, but it was cold and dark
All Unnecessary wires were taped up and only necessary connection were left which Made everything much easier. Instructions and all necessary pictures and diagrams were also available online.

Just recently my daughter said the truck was starting up by itself without touching the RS fob. I just assumed she may accidentally pushed or held the RS button . We took the RS remote off her key chain and only used it in the mornings. Lately it was getting worse and was starting by itself

I reached out to Steve and he immediately offered to walk me though the transmitter reprogramming process. Didn’t have the truck at the time. Next day my daughter came home and told me that if she pressed the lock button on the OEM Honda remote. The car start up again. At that time I realized that the OEM fob also starts the truck.

Steve called me to walk me through reprogramming the remote. I told him what happened and he told me that the OEM fob will also work, but the range would be much shorter.

So the problem became a additional way to start the truck.

I highly recommend him for all your. RS and alarm needs.

Spent yesterday installing Steve's Compustar system on my 18 4Runner ORP. My system consisted of:

• Compustar main unit - remote start + alarm
• Drone Mobile
• EZ-GO keyless entry
• RPS Touch keypad

Spent about 2 hours reading and rereading all the instructions Steve provided. I have soldering experience but nothing automotive, so I spent A LOT of time making sure I was stripping and soldering the correct wires.

Whole install took about 8 hours on a Saturday (including disassembly, soldering, zip-tying everything up, reassembly). The main unit and all the accessories are harnessed out by Steve specific to your 4Runner application. Few notes from my install worth mentioning:

• I did not install the Compustar system siren. During install, you tie into the factory horn, which I thought was sufficient. This eventually lead to confusion when I was programming the RPS Touch keypad (it uses chirps from the siren when programming). Steve suggested I temporarily hook up the alarm siren just to program the RPS Touch, which worked great.
• .
• Took me longer than expected to run the Compustar antenna and EZ-GO antenna wires up the A-pillar and under the headliner to final location above rearview mirror.
• .
• If you go with the RPS Touch, don't install it too far down into the driver side windshield corner. I put it way down there then accidentally unplugged its wiring when putting the A-pillar cover back on. Getting that tiny plug back into the RPS Touch wedged way down in the corner was tough.
• .
• Mid-wire stripping the thin OEM wires is not easy. This took me longer than expected; I didn't want to cut through anything. I suggest practicing this a bit before the install; I think it was 22 or 24 awg
• .
• Goes without saying....disconnect your battery before starting. I almost forgot to do this.
• .
• Zip tying everything cleanly behind the dash + dash reassembly took as much time as soldering all the wires.
  

Just about everything worked perfectly on first start-up. Overall the install wasn't hard. Just took time and patience; I was constantly referencing the instructions, pictures and videos Steve provided. Steve jumped on the phone quickly when I had a couple things I couldn't immediately figure out.

System is fantastic. Remote start from my phone will be a life saver in the mountains. EZ-GO effectively makes the car keyless entry. RPS Touch allows me to lock my keys/wallet in car when I want to go on a run.

Steve was incredible throughout the process. Walked me through the options before purchase. Got on the phone on a weekend to help me with install. Super solid guy. Would do this process through him again in a heartbeat.

Another Happy Customer

What can I say that hasn't already been said about Steve and his service? Nothing, this guy is top notch, his kit was very well made. Support was 100 times better than you will get anywhere else.

Any issue I had was my own because I've never soldered before....as Steve pointed out, it's really important to do that properly...which after a few tries, it was easy.

Took me roughly 4 hours, mostly because I couldn't dedicate the time in one shot, had to break it up over a couple nights due to kids and life in general.

If you are on the fence, waiting to pull the trigger....Just do it, If I can do this...you can too!

Had a nice warm ride to work this morning....so worth it!

I'd like to say Hello to the forum! Been lurking since I picked up the 4R a month or so ago.

On to more important things.

Steve is a great guy to deal with on the phone and by email or text. He makes himself available and really wants to keep the install process easy for us. His instructions are top notch. So much so that I tackled the project in a barely post flu fever haze. Which led to a problem... Steve though never missed a beat in responding with questions and looking over pictures. Going through one of his photo requests this lone black wire decided to stare at me from its lonely position on the floor mat... funny how much better electrical things work when you close that loop. Hooked up the ground (like it says to in those instructions) and bam everything works like its supposed to!

If you are considering remote start for your ride do your self a favor and talk to Steve. You'll get the right level of stuff for what you need and the follow up service after he gets paid is just outstanding.

Let me just start by saying Steve is on hell of a guy and provides the best customer service hands down. I had ordered a full kit from him starter, drone mobile, and EZ-Go, everything came fully done and ready to install with super clear directions.

Unfortunately the day the unit arrived I was rear ended by a dump truck at a red light and was unable to install the unit as the truck was being repaired and needing surgery. After getting the truck back and just being post-op, Steve happened to be in my area and offered to take the time on a Sunday morning to install it himself. Seriously appreciated it to no extent!

Couldn't be happier with the unit, I love that I can start my car from my phone and check the status of it while Im in the office and away. The one thing I missed about my Jeep GC was the proximity unlock and having the EZ-Go installed took care of that and its awesome.

Again I high recommend ordering a unit from Steve not only for the product but because of the awesome service you receive from a guy that cares about his customers!

Everyone's reviews are their own. All i asked of them is to leave a real honest feedback. Good bad ugly. If i was a jerk to you, POST IT. If i didnt want to help you, POST IT. If the install went great, POST IT.

How i see it is, I want you guys to have a great experience working on your truck. Now a days, we expect service to be bad and its become acceptable. Not in my book!!

Regarding drone mobile, are there functions in the 4runner the aux1, aux2 and trunk signals can be tied to? Was thinking about this the other day when playing with the drone interface on my phone. Maybe:

• windows up
• other 3rd party system that can be tied in?

These work? Other ideas?

Windows up and down need to be programmed first in the truck natively. Then it can be accomplished by programming of the compustar and additional wiring in the truck.

What is the last thing 3rd party?

probably not. this is a high current vehicle.
12 connections is pretty simple.

Hi Steve/All-

Back in May, I bought the Compustar Alarm/Remote Start and Drone Mobile kit requiring 12 wires to connect in my 4runner from Steve [MENTION=93434]gshadow325[/MENTION]. Its been too hot for me to try the install until now- however I have decided to have a professional car audio installer handle since my truck is now there getting new head unit etc. For some reason I cannot see the Instructions/Videos you sent me sharing permission to view in your Google storage. That was back in June. So the installer needed a few questions answered that a printout of your install instructions would probably answer. He also wanted to know if it is pre-programmed or not..? Of course, I have no clue. I tried to email you the other day for assistance but have not heard back and tomorrow is the last day the truck will be there. If you get this, can you please help? Or if anyone else has Steves instructions and could send to me, that would be greatly appreciated. I was worried when I jumped on here and noticed Steve has not been active since mid-August. I did have his cell number back in June, but unable to find it. Thanks for ANY help!

The WHY I still do this for 5th gen owners

All units come ready to install. So no programming necessary with the exception to your specific car.

As for sharing the info, if you are a client you will have access to the files. I know some of the members share it with others that are not supposed to have access. This is not cool. When I find out, I think of why bother doing this any more? Then I think about all the members of this great forum that helped me in the past, and will help me in the future. That's my WHY. Helping others and paying it forward. If you have the info, keep it don't need to share it please. The instructions have changed and may be out of date is a big reason why. Firmware update, configurations etc.

I get a lot of emails between my work and private. I try to get to every one within 24 hours. Each and every email I get is personally answered and sometimes takes 15 to 30 minutes to draft up a understandable response depending on the amount of questions. Many of you guys have some good ones!!! Sometimes emails take up 2 hours of my day to respond to them all, but I will get to them.

Guys, little peek into what compustar is about.

Why I love these guys. They put their T11 remote to the test.

Here is a link for a tough mudder ambassador running with a t11 remote strapped to him for the whole event.

Tough mudder world's is going to be in Atlanta in November and today I'm having a conference call with compustar to iron out details on them having a few more T11 strapped to more participants for this 24 hours of mind numbing body testing event. Most finishers do 50 plus miles. They poop and pee in their clothing, they run they electrified pools of water, they jump off cliffs, they crawl thru mud. All this with a tough T11 remote!! That's going to really test it for durability!!

Why are these guys going to run tough mudder?
Raise awareness on esophageal cancer. Kenny lost his bother in law less than 2 years ago, he didn't see 30 before he passed. I'm friends with Kenny and a few of the runners, I gave him my remote to see if it still worked after the first event. Like a champ!!

I have now made this system almost all plug and play.

You need to make two connections now.
YES, only two but wait there are 4 optional connections that you dont have to connect. They are for options.
You will get all hardware necessary for install!
