So, whats the difference between the 140 and the 160?

Just wanted to add to this thread that I installed the PT546-00160 head unit in my 4Runner (non-JBL) and everything in the description below worked great. I always read about people getting cheap parts from other people or junk yard and I can never find stuff like that, except this time around. When I read this thread a couple months ago I checked online for junk yards with the head unit and to my surprise there was a mint condition one from a totaled 2016 Scion only 5 miles from my house. Super fortunate. Paid $125 for it. Got it hooked up today. I only hooked up the bluetooth microphone because I am not going to use the USB or aha app (though it looks like that might work through bluetooth). I didn't hook up a rearview camera yet either. In the future I will probably add the camera and the USB cable (USB mainly if there's a software update).

UPDATE: not even 24 hours in and the head unit is no longer playing audio. Everything appears to work, but no sound is coming through the speakers. Hooked the old head unit back up and everything works fine, so the problem is either the head unit or the adapters/cables. Checked the diagnostic page for the head unit and it doesn't show any failures. Does anyone have any ideas of what else to check?

I didn't have the Navi unit in mine but Ive done the swap with all the parts in the description and still works today. Check the connectors and also check the head unit pins as well.
The only thing I can figure out is that the amp IC or some chip has burned out. I hooked my old head unit up to the new harness and it played audio, so that all works. The new head unit gets HD radio signal, pairs to Bluetooth, and shows everything normal. The last thing I did on the head unit was press the voice command button, and the audio stopped and never return. I disconnected power to the head unit but all the settings persist. Not sure if there’s a way to do a hard factory reset. I did all the memory clear options available in the set up menus but it didn’t help.
Did you try holding in the power knob to shut it down? My PT546-00160 has done that and it was still connected to the phone, and even pulling the power was not enough to reset it.

No I did not try that. I’ve turned the screen off by pressing the power button. Are you saying holding the button down does something different? I really wish there was a complete factory reset option. I’ve tried finding the firmware because I was going to flash new firmware in it to try and get this thing back to square one.

I'm starting my install today after finally getting the old Alpine out. As I'm test fitting my harnesses, I don't have anything that fits the connector on the right, in the pic. The other 2 match up fine. These are the connectors coming from the dash...Where have I screwed up?
Edit: It appears to plug directly into the new radio...

The nav does use an antenna. You can find an used Toyota one on eBay.

These nav antennas must be as rare as hen's teeth. The only one I could find was from Hong Kong. Anyone know if the part number has been updated from PZ490-00388-00? I would buy OEM just to get it here but no one seems to have it, in the USA, at least. I hate to put everything back together only to have to take it back apart. This is what I ordered.

Any idea what the OEM part number for the GPS antenna might be? I can find the 2015 but that won't work for the 2016, right? Thanks!

Also, the Coromose usb adapter is supposed to plug into the extension box when using the nav. Mine doesn't fit the hole in the nav box. The part number is 86705-02070, but I'm only finding it overseas. Anyone know the US part number. I think this is the same problem with the GPS antenna...Thanks for all the help. You guys are a great resource!

All I can find for a part number for the 2003 T4R OEM Nav antenna is..... 86860-35030 Antenna Assembly, but this says it for "in glass navigation", but doing a search I can't seem to find many for sale anywhere, many listings but all say discontinued or not availiable.

There are some used ones on Ebay but not sure if they're any good or would even work with what you have with the new unit, also all of them it seems have been cut out of the vehicle and not sure if they will hook up easily.

I did find one new one for sale on Ebay if you want too way over pay for it, and I'm still not sure it will work for you, they only want $897.24 for it...BUT they do offer free shipping, so nice of them...LOL

This is a Scion radio I am installing in my 2007 4Runner. I did the same thing in my 2003( which I still have) without nav and it still works fine. The radio I'm installing is a 2016 Scion radio (PT546-001600) with the nav box (PT296-12160). The problem with the GPS antenna and, apparently the USB is the connectors to the 2016 nav unit are slightly different. I going to call my guy at Partznet and see if he can help. Thanks! BTW, the radiator is all good...

I finally received the OEM Toyota GPS antenna this week, although it had to come from the UK. The 2016 plug on the extension box has changed from prior years and those that fit are hard to find. I'll post all I have discovered during this journey after I finish this weekend. Thanks for all of the help!

I mounted mine under the dash as high up as I could. So far, no problems.

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but what is the purpose of the Rerii dual USB extension cable? Is it for charging? I have an Android Moto phone. I assume the female USB cable from the head unit would connect to my phone? What does the dual USB(male) connect to? Sorry for the question. I'm installing the GPS antenna currently, and the Toyota part #PZ490-00338-00 fits the extension box perfectly.

Let me ask this dumb question another way. One male end of the Renii dual USB cable obviously connects to the USB cable from the radio. Where does the 2nd one get its power/what does the 2nd one connect to, as there is only 1 USB port on the radio. Thanks!
Just bought both of these radios (T10028 and PT546-00170) off eBay for about $150 each. They're both 2017 Toyota branded versions of the Scion head units you've installed. Going to install one and sell the other. Which one do you prefer and why? The pictures of the 160 (and 170) make it look more technologically advanced, but they appear to have the same features and the T10028 actually looks a little more original in the 4th generation.
