So I just learned this today, maybe others know this but I'm spreading the word.
ARB tech on the phone said about 2 months ago, they are changing all their air lines from their 5mm blue air lines to the newer 6mm black air lines. The new solenoids now have a black connector, not the orange one we are used to seeing. He said they sell a conversion kit to upgrade to the 6mm lines if you have a 5mm line system. (kit is $30). It is weird to see such a big change in a product and almost zero notification. I'm wondering if they are keeping it quiet so they can sell all their old lockers with blue lines and not have customers ask for the new version only?
Benefits he said of the new 6mm line:
1) more positive locking of line into solenoid (snaps into connector better)
2) if overtightened at diff end, it won't occlude the air line (something the older blue line potentially had problems with).
3) black line is a little more durable
So per the tech, the upgrade improves the connector on the solenoid, the connector at the diff and improves the line itself. It sounded like the improvement in the line itself was less significant than the upgrade in the connectors.
Just posting this to share info. If I were to buy a new locker, I would specifically ask for the newer 6mm black air line version.
