Pull engine or front diff?

97 4Runner 4wd, 3.4, auto

I need to remove the oil pan. Is it easier, better, faster to pull the engine or the front diff? I want to replace the oil pump but since the pickup tube attaches to it, the pan has to come off first.

I just put this JDM engine in and it is creating very low oil pressure.

When first started from a cold start = 55# at about 1500 rpm

Once warmed up;

2# at 600 rpm
28# at 3000 rpm

I have changed the oil and filter 3x now, using 10w/30 oil.

I contacted the seller and they asked if I changed the oil pump, (nope). I have also read on this or other Toyota forums that it might be a problem with the relief valve or a plugged pickup tube screen, (which would also require dropping the pan)..

Recommendations/comment and requested and welcome.

Did you verify the oil pressure is low with a known good mechanical gauge?

MEASURE OIL PRESSURE
Oil pressure:
At idle speed: 29 kPa (0.3 kgf/cm2, 4.3 psi) or more
At 3,000 rpm:245 −520 kPa (2.5 −5.3 kgf/cm2, 36 −75 psi)

Would drop Diff if necessary,was it required to replace oil pump?
Could be sloppy assembly job..needs GASKET at pick up tube to oil pump junction not rtv

when I swapped over the pickup tube, (JDM to my original), I replaced the gasket.

The oil pump in use was the one that came installed on the JDM engine. I did not disturb it.

I know a lot of people have their opinion of motor oil weight and oil additives, but I may try going with a 10w/40 and some of that oil stabilizer.

I have read several posts about removing the front diff and that does not sound like much fun...

about the gauge, yes. I actually used two different gauges with similar results.
