Pulled my 23' camper today! hafta say i'm impressed

I bought a 1974 23' Vanguard, dual axel with electric brakes. I'm in the process of completely restoring it. dry weight is 3600lbs, with a tounge weight of approx 500lbs. i got my tranny cooler, brake controller and power converter installed yesterday. Wanted to take her for a test tow to see how my 2000 Limited would do. I have to say, i'm quite impressed. i was originally looking for a ~16 footer but this was WAY too good of a deal to pass up. i was a little nervous with the size, but honestly the 4runner did a great job. it came with an equilizer receiver so its a peice of cake. can't wait to get out camping!

Don't the limiteds already come with a tranny cooler? If not, I need to double check to make sure I got one!

Ya i'm almost positive they do come with one mine has one installed and i don't believe it was aftermarket (my dad owned it first).

yes they do come with tranny coolers, but no an external one. i wanted to get one because this camper will be pushing the limits of the truck so i don't want to take any chances. i like to camp at a place 3 1/2 hours away, ALL uphill so its going to be a huge workout and i don't want to stress my truck

Do the Tundra brake upgrade too...You will love it if you pull a trailer!

Definetly add an external cooler if you tow alot.

I think the WDH will increase the tow cap by at leased 500 lbs. It will also make the camper and truck more stable going down the road.

well i got it out to the campsite. trailer is now for sale. its way too much trailer for the 4runner. too bad...kinda disspointed but oh well!

it could barely hit 80km/h, and it started swaying big time when i was going down a hill. don't want to do that to myself again.
