There is no need to pull the tranny. Start by taking off the intake plenum and fuel lines. Unplug the wiring harness and set it aside over the passenger fender. Pull the starter and exhaust manifolds and all the doodads on the front of the engine and all you'll have left are the bell housing bolts and the engine mounts.
You will however want to put something under the transmission to support the weight BEFORE you pull the engine.

Leave the manifolds on.
Remove the ALt, PS, AC Comp, put to side.
Remove the main wire harness from the ECM and pull out of fire wall.
Remove the electrical connects from tranny and trans fer case.
Undo the down pipe from the passenger exhaust manifold.
Remove the starter, Undo the TQ conv, bell housing and engine mounts.
Unhook the Fuel lines and vacuum hoses.
Pull motor.
Put in new motor. Don't forget to replace the WP and TB.
Remove the ALt, PS, AC Comp, put to side.
