I have the V6 with selectable 4x4. Up to this point I have only driven in 4wd when offroading/rough roads. We received our first snow this week and have been in 4H for the past several days both on hard packed snow and dry pavement.
It seems like when I am on dry pavement and giving the vehicle gas in 4H, it pulls slightly to the right. It's barely noticeable but today I switched from 4H to 2H and noticed that the slight pulling seemed to stop when 4H disengaged.
I'm fairly certain it is not an alignment issue since it doesn't pull in 2H and I had it recently aligned after my lift.
Some other items of note:
When I purchased the vehicle, the prior owner had replaced the left CV axle but not the right.
Last week I was checking CV boots and noticed a slight play in the CV axle - I was able to slide it in and out maybe 1mm or less whereas the left CV was tight with no play.
Would this possible CV difference create the pulling? If so, should both CVs have been replaced at the same time? Should I replace just the right or both now so they are matched? Is there something else I should check for that might create the pulling. I can deal with the pulling, am I potentially creating damage as is?
Thanks for the help!
Jeff
