Punks tried to break in

Just venting. I'm not in a high crime area. I usually park in the garage but not last night. I had a utility trailer hitched on to go pick something up this morning.

I come out to find some a$$h@le punk broke out the small fixed window on the left rear door. Looks like they were too stupid to even unlock the door and gain full access. They were trying to get at a softside work case low behind the driver's seat but were only able to move it by reaching in this window. Nothing else was touched (console, glovebox, rear.) Luckily they were "nice" enough to only break a small window that is less than C$200 (less than my deductible or a larger window.)

One of the other neighbours wasn't so lucky. They broke into his work van and got alot of his tools. But they left a blood trail behind which the cops now have a sample of. There has been a recent rash of petty thefts from unlocked cars (all the neighbours knew it) but this was the first night they actually broke into anything.

Aw man, that sucks! Like you said, good thing it's the smaller window. Why don't people just leave other peoples things alone!?

:dammit:Too bad he didn't cut an artery. Wouldn't the opening of the door set off the alarm?

Damn man that sucks. Atleast its just the small window. Hopefully they will catch the people who done it. Keep us updated.

No alarm (just factory immobilizer.) Window is still on order, probably get it done tomorrow. No one on the street heard anything breaking during the night.

Sorry to see that . Sucks !! I just can't understand the things people do and I deal with that crap everyday !!!!!!

yea i live in a quiet neighborhood, you'd think you would hear the glass break.

the 'tint' holds it together. its pretty quiet when it breaks.

that sucks about your car. and even more for your neighbor

same thing happened to me on my old 94, that little piece of glass was more expensive than the windshield because it has a factory gold tint.

Not sure about the noise level but nothing held it together. The tint is right in the coloured glass without a laminate layer (like a windshield.) There were little pieces of safety glass everywhere. I'm still finding the odd one.

Total cost was C$196. Now if only I could find the a$$h@le so that I can shove that bill up his butt on the end of my boot!

according to the cop who did my report, it doesn't make much of noise at all. draggies use a pencil torch to heat up the glass and lean it's body weight on a center punch, it just breaks like nothing. it's fast, too. only takes about 30 seconds.

Wow, that is awful. There are many crazy and greedy people out there. Where I go to school, that happens almost every day (very high crime area). I bet a few punk kids needed some extra $$$.

That sucks man! Someone must have broken into my 4Runner before I bought it because the big glass for that same door is not "Toyota" glass and every other piece of glass on mine is.

Glad to hear they didn't get anything. The blood trail and the fact that they didn't even open your door makes me think the person was high. My thought on vehicle break-ins: if you want it stolen then leave it in sight. I take theft reports all the time where I work. The person always says that they left their (stolen) item on the seat, on the floor, on the dash, etc.
