New to the site... was first looking at the 4th gens but I came across this 00' and it looks really nice. 1 owner, has all the maint. records, bottom has been treated so it has zero rust. Whats your opinion on this gem? at 170k it makes it a 10k year car. But it should go a lot longer right? IF it was maintained.

Based on the pics and the price it looks good to me. I paid about 6k for mine with 150k miles on it in AZ 1 1/2 years ago. I would inspect the underside thoroughly even if they claim to have treated it.

It would sell for $9500 in Ca...looks great. Maybe search the 2000 build threads to see where it could go.

Ill be sure to double check the underside. Ill be happy if I can snatch that for 3800-4k. I guess it has new tires and new brakes done in the last 5k also. I plan on this being my DD for work. About a 60 mile around trip.

Its also 2wd. Not worth it IMO. You can't give them away here in Utah for 2wd 4runners. I would say that's a normal price for a 2wd. If that's what you are looking for and everything checks out, I wouldn't pay anything more than 4k.

OMG... I didnt even notice that its 2wd. Its a no go then.

For a 2wd I would expect to pay in the 3ks. $4200 is a bit high unless immaculately maintained and 0 issues with new tires.

Even for a 1 owner. But, it looks clean with nothing suspicious. Check and re-check the frame for rust or a cover up of rust.

Looks clean, definitely would run a Carfax to make sure everything appears right and the mileage is correct. Also I don't believe 01 came with a rear locker so I'm not sure if he means a diff lock as in a locker or just locking the transfer case to full time 4x4 which isn't anything special. That seems like a great deal as to why I would be cautious on it. I would try to find out why it is low.

I picked up an 01 SR5 (packaged similar to Limited except power seats and moon roof) with 165k for $6,700.

That is a very good deal as long as it is clean of rust and you dont see any other red flags. I would be calling on that one asap.

I guess that isn't so bad. I'm not a rust specialist. I live in southern Louisiana so this is not a problem.

I'd at least go drove the 99 that way you have something to compare the other one to.

being that both are in the rust belt...

drive the 1999, to get a feel... I think that's the KEY... driving multiple and not buying the 1st/only one you drive.

the 01 does look like it's been preventive maintained... I'd jump/run/drive on it...

Frame looks good and axle looks about average on rust. My only concern would be having such low mileage and only offering what they are. To make matters worse, you would be buying blind unless you get someone to look at it. Offer a refundable deposit and take it to a local shop and get it looked at. Usually you can pay 50-100 to have it thoroughly checked out. Agree on a price as long as any repairs do not exceed a certain amount. Do they have all the receipts for maintenance and repairs?

I would seriously consider the local one first. That looks great as well.
