Purchase decision: 4runner versus Sequoia

I don't know whether my opinion is helpful or not.
For me, I needed off-road capable truck base and most reliable SUV so I compared to Tacoma but the reason why I got T4R is, I didn't need a long open bed trunk. but if you already have a T4R and considering to keep it then I would get Sequior for kids. because, Kids need comfortable and quiet ride for real life.
MPG wise, you will lose only $50~$100 per year so just skip one sandwich every month lol

And you can stomach the latest style of the Sequoia? I was actually looking at the Sequoia up until the made the change to the new/latest body style and that killed it for me. And then thank God they came out with the 5th Gen.

I was coming from a 97 and really wanted more interior cargo space and additional space in general as I have 2 daughters, but the Sequoia is just too big now and it's has to be tough to maneuver in tight places.

Gotta tell ya, as hard as it is to admit, you cannot beat our Honda Odyssey when you have kids! Plenty of room for 7 or 8, even with carseats, and all their stuff. Easy access to the third row. Drives like an Accord with more room than the 4Runner or Sequoia. I loaded it to the gills for a trip to VA and got 24mpg running a comfy 80 mph. Test drive one- that sold me! Just gotta get over that Minivan thing... My .02

I respectfully disagree. Last June, shortly after baby #2, we bought a brand new 2016 Odyssey loaded. After driving it a few months, my wife and I hated it, and by January found our selves on the Toyota dealer lot test driving their fleet of SUVs (Highlander, 4Runner, Sequoia). I have a 2013 Tundra Limited, which I adore, and I thought we may end up in a Sequoia. Ultimately decided on a 2017 4Runner Limited. So far, we love it. Sequoia proved to be too much of a boat/tank for daily use. I couldn't envision my wife ripping around town in the Sequoia to do day care drop offs, appointments, etc. The Sequoia is essentially a Tundra with an enclosed short bed. They are beautiful, I agree. Either one will beat the minivan option for functionality. If you decide to venture down the minivan path, test drive a Sienna with AWD. Honda does not offer 4WD or AWD on the Odyssey.
